Guest guest
Hi : Setting one's set point is far from being an exact science. My guess is that your set point is around 170 pounds. I base that on a guess that your **FIT**, fully grown, weight on graduation from university might have been five pounds more than your high school graduation fit weight. As noted, this is not an exact science. My numbers are about the same as yours, except my all time high spike was 185 pounds. Guest guest
Hi : Those numbers seem to make sense to me. As our Francesca will tell you, it may be best not to implement things too aggressively. One pound a week is likely OK. I am doing it at about half a pound a week, but I started from ~175. (I use Fitday for logging this, and find it an excellent way of doing it.) It is not entirely clear to me whether the caution is advisable as regards the rapidity with which CR is introduced, or the eventual caloric level that is aimed at. If anyone has access to the studies which cause people to advise caution, I would greatly appreciate it if they could post them here. Then we could try to draw some conclusions. Francesca will also tell you that it is the number of calories that is the REAL variable, not weight per se. So next you will be asking 'how many calories?'! Well the data on another CR website shows intakes between 1450 and 2250 for people who claim to be on CR and to have have lost at least 20 pounds of weight since before starting CR. Of course, surveys that ask people how many calories they are consuming are notoriously unreliable. I can't say for the low pulse rates, but the CRON people whose blood pressure data was reviewed before CR and after showed huge declines in blood pressure, as well as remarkably healthy declines in many other measurements also. If you check back in the archives you should find fairly comprehensive data from a quite recent Washington University of St. Louis (WUSTL) study that covers this.
