Guest guest
I believe is still active on the science list. My recollection is that he was a few inches over 6'. In case this isn't clear losing weight is a side effect of caloric restriction. Weight or BMI is not specifically targeted. BMI or percent body fat is sometimes used to define a lower safe limit but there is little agreement over exact " safe " limits. You will typically see almost immediate improvement in blood chemistry from being in modest energy deficit for any period time. It's like you benefit from the energy deficit rather than the specific weight loss. There are numerous opinions about targets or goals, but I prefer to look at this as a permanent life style involving a life long series of small incremental improvements. Focus on the journey rather than a specific destination (grasshopper . IMO the goal is to attain a high quality of life now not suffer for some promise of future reward. I have been reading the CRON files and found the note by Colin Colella ( " Read this and be inspired " ). He mentions that 165 lb is a good weight for him with many health benefits, but the note does not mention his height. I would like to know how tall he is to be able to compute a Body Mass Index (BMI). This will enable me and others to have a better idea of the BMI threshold at which one can expect better health indicators (cholesterol, BP, etc). A.
