How would I ground it? Kathy
Guest guest
Hey Kathy! I have totally been through that whole process of trying to reduce emf from my computer. Here's what I've found: 1) Clear emf shielding does not work. Even if the advertising claims it will. Very disappointing, but true. 2) Building a shield around the computer using metal sheeting specifically created to block emf is effective. I bought a sheet from these guys: http://www.magnetic-shield.com/ - and it works. It lowers the emf coming off my laptop (tested it with Trifield). 3) However, distance is key. I find that getting the hard drive as far away from you as possible is the way to go! There is much less emf coming off your flat screen than your hard drive. 4) BEST thing you can do for yourself (besides create distance!) is buy a trifield emf meter! You need facts. You need to know *what* is emitting the most emf in your home - then you can start to fix the problem. 5) What I found when I scanned my home (with Trifield and socket tester) is that my computer (once far enough away from me) wasn't the culprit - my WIRING was. Almost ALL my sockets were not properly grounded! This resulted in " dirty electricity " filling my house - electricity that is not contained by the wiring, but emanated from the wiring. So test your sockets! Good luck! - > > > Would putting a glass sheet over a computer screen be okay until I can order shielding materials soon? > > How would I ground it? > > Kathy > > > > >
Guest guest
, Thanks for the computer tips. We don't need to buy things that don't work. I have to buy the trifeld meter & most importantly the socket tester! Know we have wiring problems. Working on our budget. For now I'm unplugging everything after use. Don't know your area, what fees average for you. Thanks Again, Kathy From: Budd <annabudd122@...> Subject: Re: Comuter screen Date: Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 11:43 AM  Hey Kathy! Guest guest
I have been having major problems with the computer so I put some of that thick foil you can buy at Home Depot in front of the box & plugs. Then wrapped the wires in thick foil. I also have a glare reflector I bought from lessemf to put in front of the screen. It supposed to cut down on emf also. Anyway when I put the foil back there it helped a great deal.  Just block it all up!  Loni From: KathyB <calicocat477@...> Subject: Comuter screen Date: Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 7:37 AM  Would putting a glass sheet over a computer screen be okay until I can order shielding materials soon? Guest guest
Hi Kathy,  Back when I was having bad emfs from my computer I also used, similar to what Loni has mentioned, heavy-duty aluminum baking foil which I made up into a shield, and that was helpful. I have since, with help from Dell techs, worked out the problems causing the emfs on my computer and no longer have to use the shield.  Good luck, Diane From: KathyB <calicocat477@...> Subject: Comuter screen Date: Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 7:37 AM  Would putting a glass sheet over a computer screen be okay until I can order shielding materials soon?
