Amelia: welcome to the group. We hope to have a meeting of local CRONIES

soon and hope you'll be interested.

I think you're under a misconception that we eat loads of fruit. Fruit is

very healthy, but higher in calories than veggies, and also sends blood

sugar up. So the best plan is to eat mostly veggies and some fruit, but not

too much. It's the same with nuts. A handful a day is healthy - but too

many nuts are very high in calories.

I now sprinkle my fruit with cinnamon, a known blood sugar ameliorator. I

eat a small bowl of fruit (maybe 1/2 cup of mixed fruit salad) every evening

for " dessert " sprinkled with cinnamon, and topped w/ff yogurt and brewer's

yeast. For past posts on the magical properties of cinnamon, see this post

and the subsequent thread:

Depite fruit's reputation as causing high blood sugar, in testing, many

fruits have low glycemic index scores. Even whole grain products often score

significantly higher than many fruits.

But high fructose corn syrup is high 89 verse 93 for sucrose. Fructose

itself is 39 if my memory serves me.
