Guest guest
Hello all, I'll preface this message by noting that it's quite late and I've been out imbibing (non-CR liquids) with friends following a series of odd circumstances in my own life... I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Roy Walford, who has been an inspirational figure for all of us in the CR community for so many years. While I understand his desire to avoid becoming some kind of figurehead for CR, especially in view of the unavoidable health issues he has been facing for many years, I don't think that his preference for a private life should preclude our sincere condolences to his family and genuflection to a unique and creative mind that influenced us all in direct and/or unseen ways. Roy Walford's passing does not negate the evidence behind the research he pursued for so long, and I indirectly believe that was one of the many reasons behind his relative silence with regard to the CR groups, but it is certainly a moment that we should all note and reflect on. We are still a small community, and among us all, he was surely a creative mind and kind person who bore a very considerable influence on us all, including and apart from his research. My best to you all, ________________________ Gifford 3-5 Humanities Centre Department of English University of Alberta www.ualberta.ca/~gifford
Guest guest
There will be a wake/celebration of Roy's life (a party as Walford describes it) at Roy's studio in Southern California on Sunday. More details to follow when firms up the plans. has set up a website at: HTTP://roy.walford.com, where all can contribute their thoughts on how his work touched their lives... I have added a blurb on behalf of the CR Support List. on 4/29/2004 5:28 AM, Gifford at gifford@... wrote: > Hello all, > > I'll preface this message by noting that it's quite late and I've been out > imbibing (non-CR liquids) with friends following a series of odd > circumstances in my own life... > > I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Roy Walford, who has been an > inspirational figure for all of us in the CR community for so many years. > While I understand his desire to avoid becoming some kind of figurehead for > CR, especially in view of the unavoidable health issues he has been facing > for many years, I don't think that his preference for a private life should > preclude our sincere condolences to his family and genuflection to a unique > and creative mind that influenced us all in direct and/or unseen ways. > > Roy Walford's passing does not negate the evidence behind the research he > pursued for so long, and I indirectly believe that was one of the many > reasons behind his relative silence with regard to the CR groups, but it is > certainly a moment that we should all note and reflect on.
