As mentioned in an earlier email to the Group, my husband has cancer so this statement in the above article, leapt off the page: " Dietary restriction (DR) reduces cancer formation " . Hubby has been able to ingest approximately 500-1000 calories per day since January. He primarily eats via his PEG. Maybe this involuntary CR has been a " blessing in disguise " . Have any of you felt less stress while Croning? As you can imagine, the last few months have been very stressful for me but I haven't been stressed. Make sense? Guest guest
Hi Laurie, It is a paradox that stress triggers overeating (for me at least, but for lab rats too I understand) but Croning produces a clearer head, better coping abilities, etc. I am someone who gets a lot more energy from Croning, probably because my diet is better quality. Digestion is a major energy drain. Under unrelenting chronic stress, I have noticed that my options seem to be Croning or overeating. Eating " normally " is not on the menu. I look forward to reseachers explaining this stuff for me someday. :-) > Have any of you felt less stress while Croning? Guest guest
CR can reduce stress in several ways. Many have remarked upon the effect in the CR Society email list, also. This may, in part be due to alterations in one's hormonal profile resulting from CR. CR may also enable peace of mind in knowing one is acting in a way that will optimize health and longevity. >From: " Mrs. G " <mrsg@...> >Reply- > >Subject: [ ] Rodney re: Fasting >Date: Thu, 29 Apr 2004 14:53:31 -0000 > >--- In , " Rodney " <perspect1111@y...> >wrote: > > > http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/full/100/10/6216 > > >Thank you for researching and finding the above link.
