Guest guest
For those who have a website: Has it been a slow process to get your business going? There are so many people now with websites. I wasn't sure if it would be less than a year or two for people to find your site. Should only take a couple of months to get at most. Do you have one that is not getting any traffic? Guest guest
It does take time to build up a base of online clients. Promotion for me is a slow and steady process, but that is how I wanted it to be. Also, when doing shows that are out of town, I promote the site as a way for people to be able to repurchase, and that has worked out well. Free banner exchange has brought me some traffic also, and search engine submission. I am also doing Google adwords, and that is working out well as I set a small budget. I do not want more traffic than I am ready to handle at the moment. So, I think in my case I had to decide how much traffic I was ready to handle and then how much I was willing to spend, then go from there, Have You been Pampered Today? Guest guest
It all depends on what people are looking for and how you fill that niche. My Web site for color therapy, essential oils, etc. is growing slowly but years ago I was a journalist in the entertainment field. I havent' done anything with my site -- comicsutra.com -- for years and yet I still get major hits for 2 reasons. Back when I was actively freelancing and putting my articles on my Web site as well, I reviewed La Femme Nikita and Stern's show Son of the Beach. Come to find out both had such active fans they found my site and major fan sites for and Nikita linked to my site. I still get hits. If you can find the right niche that people are looking for, your traffic can take off overnight. But slow and steady wins the race, too. Guest guest
Actually, I've been very bad! I've had it for a few months but haven't added any products to it. So, it's been sitting there with an introduction page. Thanks! Guest guest
What beautiful soap! Your site is very easy to navigate - the black background really shows off the colors of your soap. A question - Where did you find the mold for the puzzle pieces or did you make it yourself? My grandson has autism and the puzzle pieces are a symbol for it. I bought a ribbon stamp at WalMart and was going to carve puzzle pieces in it, then make a mold using silicon. On my to do list - long list - I'd prefer buying one! Again, love your site! Guest guest
Done it all.... website design (over 10 years); attempts at a specialty soap business; real estate sales (10 years); and corporate America (yuke - way too long!) I agree.... the hosting companies will help you as much as possible in order to generate business for themselves. One of my personal favorites: http://www.crystaltech.com . Guest guest
> > I got my site at the end of oct and its been dead until after xmas --is > starting to pick up now. I thought you just got a site made and then whoosh off > you went with millions of orders ! lolol noooo ! > *grins* Indeed not. My website debuted in October of 2005. The only orders I had, all through June of 2006, were from repeat customers on my email list. In my opinion, maintaining an email list for your customers, and sending out a newsletter monthly or bi-weekly is the key. This past October through December I was swamped with orders, both from repeat customers and from random folks. Where did these random folks find me? I have no idea. I just know that keeping an email list is the way to go. Also, permanently affix your website address to your email signatures. And always have your card with you, and give it out. I give my card out everywhere. I was smelling soaps in the natural foods store, and some woman buying soap there struck up a conversation with me. I gave her my card, and she said, " Well, I'd rather buy local. " Well, so would I, store-lady. My two cents, Amy All-natural, handmade luxury soaps, and the ebook, _Making Soap In Your Own Kitchen_, a beginner's guide to soapmaking. www.soapcrone.com/ebook.php

I thought I had a good thing right after I made my site, but now I am lucky I get a few nibbles. Every few months, I make some changes in my website, hoping to generate interest, but also, I am realizing that it is hard to smell things over the internet. So I am trying better pictures and maybe will add descriptions of the fragrances I put in my bath salts. Anita B.
Guest guest
Anita, I think the name of fragrances too can sell soaps... but maybe also regular customers & word of mouth gradually build it ? I am busy on ebay but not on the site..... is weird.

Guest guest
Marcia You are quite correct in that the area that I have identified is missing the “Change Print Size Text” when you are using a Firefox browser; it also is not there when you switch to a Netscape browser. , it appears that the website was designed around the Internet Explorer environment, you might like to mention to your web designers that the Change Print Size does not work on a Netscape or Firefox browser. Marcia, I am not that familiar with the Mac operating system, but in your tool bar options is there not a facility that will allow you to make the text larger (from the top tool bar - View – Text Size and Increase)? Guest guest
First you have to purchase your domain name. Then you purchase a hostiing plan from a company like from host gator or blue host. I got my domain names for my blogs at Dynadot. You can get them at go daddy too. There are lots of coupon codes on the internet for this stuff so look around for those as well. I get my hosting from host gator for around $10 per month. It is not the cheapest by far but it is very reliable and has not gone down since I got it. You can get cheaper plans through Go Daddy if you know what you are doing as far as seting up the site and FTP. I was a real newbie so I needed something that was real easy. I had heard some real horror stories about Go daddy and how hard it was to get their set up done. Your host company will give you the files to set up your account on the web. They will have stuff lke word press included so you can set up blogs or pages up without a lot of mess. I think said she had a lot of experience with this stuff so she can probably help a lot more than me but that is the bare bones of what you have to do to get started. There are free sites that you can get as well like through tripod and some others. Have you thought about those? Since this is not a business I dont know why we could not use a free site unless you have a reason not to. KIm WEBSITE I am looking into getting a website question where to go to buy a website. what the procedure? anyone here know? Guest guest
My daughter used to set up a website for her husband's old restaurant. I can't remember what it cost, but I do remember her saying it was very easy to use. Guest guest
Another one that others would find if they typed TSH into google. We should be considering tft and tsh if it is possible to find a domain name that is available!
