I'm not celiac, nor even gluten intolerant, and homemade grain based foods like breads are foods I do not have allergic reactions to. And it is very difficult to find enough to eat without including those foods, so in addition to simple insulin resistance or leptin resistance, I have the allergy factor driving me. But on the other side now, is my ironoverload, saying to limit grain based foods to reduce iron absorption. It was actually my 2.5 months of Atkins, followed by further more liberal months of eating protein foods that contain an allergen for me, that sent me into 14 months of unrelenting extreme eczema, which was pain I do NOT want to have to live through again. On all aspects of diet, I have to be very careful, it is a very tricky balancing act for me. I'm even off whey at the moment, and may have to eliminate coconut oil for a time, if my current itchies don't stop soon. I'm taking antihistamines almost every 4 hours, including taking 300 mg of H2 blocker daily (generic zantac). And using more HC cream, and a benzocaine anti-itch cream, and applying diluted DMSO to keep skin histamine exhausted. Not all the topicals at once of course. When this current attack abates I'll start adding things back one at a time. But at times like this, I usually have to stop all supplements and vitamins, stop eating eggs, stop eating beef, many veg I have to eliminate, also. Everytime I get to a relatively decent place with my diet, this happens. I'm hoping I can avoid having to do a prednisone taper this time. So far so good, it is controlled so far, and still tolerable, and I haven't even had to ramp up to phenergan yet. sol
