Guest guest
We attended a banquet the other night. Dined on filet mignon and a scrumptious (very high caloric I'm sure) chocolate dessert. The rest of the meal was salad and veggies so that was OK. But I'm sure I ate a couple of thousand extra calories over for that day. But the calories " average " in over your lifetime so once in a great while such a meal means little. Also I rarely eat beef, so when offered the opportunity, I do eat it knowing I'm getting some nutrients from it that I rarely get. Remarkably I haven't gained a pound and I'm quite surprised. I expected that I would put on a couple of pounds from that large, high caloric meal. My plan was to eat less for a few days afterward, which I'm accomplishing. I find that after such a big meal, I'm a lot less hungry for a while afterward (thank goodness) . When such opportunities come along, I usually enjoy the dining and socializing; it's one of the great joys in life. And I'm glad I don't have to give them up.
