Guest guest
Hi Al: Not altogether surprising they had no children. It appears they got married when she was 58. Guest guest
I wonder what's the correlation- for women- between childbirth and longevity. > > Hi All, > > > > Another centenarian bites the dust. > > > > No children makes me wonder. > > > > See: > > > > http://www.cbc.ca/cp/world/040516/w051650.html > > > > Ohio woman, recognized as the 2nd oldest person, dies at 114 > > 09:08 PM EDT May 16 > > NORTH LIMA, Ohio (AP) - Charlotte Benkner, recognized as the > world's > > second oldest person, has died. Guest guest
It does not state WHEN her husband died.....that would be when their marriage ended.....not the day that SHE died, as you calculated to figure out her age on wedding day at age 58. My grandmother never married until her late twenties and only had four children and lived to be 94 (sister 96). Many women of that generation had 10 or 12 kids and died often before their husbands in their 50s or 60s. This is according to my father (89) who is still a pretty sharp ole " cookie " . I would imagine that having 10 or 12 children would take a lot out of a person. If this apocryphal evidence doesn't pass muster with you more scientific types then I have something else for you about eating soy products - although if you're not a male monkey it may not be a problem. Guest guest
We need more than a sample size of two don't you think? Guest guest
"Women who have a child in their forties may also live longer, according " I'm not sure what it says for those women who have no children. I think it says that women who have children later in life live longer than those that have them younger because menop is delayed. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: scott@... Guest guest
I agree with you interpretation. It would seem likely (bgut not necessarily) that women who were childless AND had a late menopause would live longer as well. This is a testable hypothesis anyway. The late menopause is the factor that indicates longevity. Guest guest
I agree with that. I also recall that those late starting menstrual cycle (menarche?) will have a later menopause. So the next thing is what delays starting? one thing is malnutrition per : Kistner's Gynecology & Women's Health, 7th ed., pg 262. Regards. ----- Original Message ----- From: scott@...
