Guest guest
I just listened to the talk by Dr. Goldsworthy about leaky cell membranes being the cause of ES symptoms. Can't say I understood all of it (brain-fog and all) but my question is this -- if that is the cause of all this misery, how do we fix the cell membranes so they don't leak??? Thanks! I doubt that his theory about leaky cell membranes applies to EVERYONE on this list. I think there are various causes of ES, and you need to figure out which one applies to you. For example, I'm fairly certain that my ES is merely a side effect of mercury poisoning. While someone else may be suffering from a vitamin deficiency, someone else has a parasite problem, and someone else has leaky cell membranes. And many people here probably have a combination of several things going on. Marc
Guest guest
My take on this? Everyone suffers! You can divide this into two groups. Those like us who have learned to recognize the real culprit in a wide list of varied symptoms. And those who have the same or similiar symptoms but DON " T recognize the source. " Got a head-ache, pop an advil/motrin " . High blood pressure? Diabetes? Chronic Fatigue? Allergies, Runny nose, sinus problems, Heart Problems? Take a pill. And far too often, the pills MASK the effects just " enough " for the majority of people to put the BLAME- on something else. Next time all of you are in a gathering of people, count how many you find that DON " T have ANY chronic health problems. That includes: asmtha, allergies, migraines, thinning hair or hair loss, missing eye brows (looks like they over plucked) circles under the eyes, sunken eyes, over-weight, under-weight, acne, red face, wears eye glasses, or contacts, food allergies, sour stomach, indigestion, heavy periods, depression, FLAT expression (TOTAL APATHY- like no feelings), arthritus, lupus, anxiety, compulsive, always tired, ....the list goes on and on. I bet if you had 20 people, you wouldn't find ONE that didn't HAVE SOME KIND OF HEALTH PROBLEM. We had pesticides, mercury, silver fillings, badly polluted air, plastic crap, teflon pans, and lots of other things 20 years ago. WHAT WE DIDN'T HAVE WAS AN ENVIRONMENT LOADED WITH WIRELESS RADIATION to the point we do now. The common denomimator in all of this is WIRELESS radiation. To me? This is the straw that broke the camels back. Blessings, Lizzie From: marc@... Here you go: http://emfjournal.com/2009/10/11/electrohypersensitivity-emsmechanisms/ Like I said, I think he is oversimplifying ES, as I think there are multiple possible causes of ES. Guest guest
Hi, Amy,  Due to time constraints, I haven't time to explain this indepth, however, you will probably get something out of googling " tight junctions " at wikipedia:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tight_junction  When I first read about this in 2000, it was explained that tight junctions are similar to mortar between bricks (the bricks being the body's cells). [Particularly the mortar at the corners of the bricks.] They were called, " gate keepers to the body " because they keep out foreign substances. They were thought to never open, but in ion- channelopathy diseases, it is now known they do. When they do, all manner of substances which should not be able to enter the blood stream, organs, or blood-brain barrier are left in. It was once thought this is totally genetic--genes control the permeability of the tight junctions. I assume this is still true, but since I haven't been actively studying this for awhile, there is a possibility this is not completely true. What I mean is, perhaps everybody's tjs may open in some circumstances for a short while. It is now known the tjs react to many different stimuli.  It is also now known that tjs are not just gate-keepers, they perform many functions in the body.  Glutens, in people with celiac genes, and emfs (possibly due also to other genes, or not) are 2 things which open tjs and destroy their ability to close in time, if not curtailed. Once tjs can no longer close, you develop ion-channelopathy disease.  This is the short and easy version. It is much more complicated than this, tho.  Hope this helped, Diane From: Amy <amygreen53@...> Subject: leaky cell membranes Date: Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 12:12 PM  I just listened to the talk by Dr. Goldsworthy about leaky cell membranes being the cause of ES symptoms. Guest guest
OOOOPS Amy,  I got your email mixed up with another person who said they didn't understand any of the tight junction info.  Stopping cell membranes from leaking is about addressing open tight junctions. How you stop tight junction permeability is to stop putting yourself in the way of emfs and glutens and other things which open them. This is difficult, and sometimes, impossible.  There are some other fixes. I have found some personally, which I do not like to share on forum, since I can never know if the person using my suggestion is actually *doing* what I am telling them exactly. And making changes, change the outcome considerably, possibly making you worse. I once mentioned a supplement mix I was using, which contained manganese. Manganese can be toxic--it is a toxic metal, not unlike mercury, when taken in a high dose. So unless you actually need it, you should not be taking it. I cannot be anybody's doctor. I can only say that if you understand your body, are very cautious, research well everything you are doing, proceed even more cautiously.... you will find supplement info which will help you, or at least help an open-minded doctor or nutritionist to help you. The supplements which help me will not necessarily help you. We are different people with different needs.  I have not had time to research Goldsworthy's site to see whether he has a treatment protocol. I imagine he does. I think I tried to find this last year and he doesn't publish his treatment protocol. But at any rate, there should be workable treatments out there, if not now, soon. Already, for celiac disease, they are searching for actual cures, not treatments. It is thought there will be a cure for cd in 17 years--why this amount of time, I have no idea. lol However, in the meantime, complete avoidance of gluten works. [However, for me, I notice some emfs seem to open my gut tjs too, so that is why I have worked so hard to avoid emfs and keep them out of my environment.]  Sorry I can't specifically tell you to take thus and so. It is more complicated than that. But if you read the studies, you will likely finally find info which you will recognise personally relates to you and your situation. Then, if you track other studies dealing with those specifics, you probably can find some clues for supplements to try.  I started with general info on the research studies and found a particular area which I really related to--I knew it was causing a problem (calcium leaking). I then looked up studies relating to that particular problem. I found a research study where they used manganese and taurine to close tight junctions in rabbits corneas, of all places, in order to deal with this problem. I cautiously tried this in very low doses, plus 2 other supplements at a different time of the day. It works for me if I do not abuse it. I do not use it when I do not need it. I need it only before I am going into very bad emfs. I personally do not react badly to cell and microwave towers anymore. I own no digital or wireless stuff. So I need this supplement mix only particular times and places. I usually have no problems going shopping now, or to public places. But I don't abuse my health by going to stores or in highly public places everyday. Mainly I use this mix when I have to go to a particular city near here, where the emfs are off the charts due to multiple antenna and towers, the electrical grid is over loaded, wireless and digital signals abound, etc.  Bless you, Amy, Diane  From: Amy <amygreen53@...> Subject: leaky cell membranes Date: Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 12:12 PM  I just listened to the talk by Dr. Goldsworthy about leaky cell membranes being the cause of ES symptoms. Guest guest
Amen! Great rant - and great summation of what our society has become. I sometimes forget that there are people who are probably e.s. - but don't know what the h*ll is going on (or are in some form of denial about it - after all, who would want to give up their elegant iPhones, or top-of-the-line Androids?). Out of all of the chronic health conditions you listed, I have about 12 or 13 of them. I am truly a product of modern society. ~Svetaswan > > > My take on this? Everyone suffers! Guest guest
Thanks. It's nice to know I'm in good company. Yea, I probably started out with more things on the list then not! Give up their precious big brother tracking system? Here's another rant. 20 years ago, socieity was able to think on their feet! Now,instead of teaching kids to think for themselves, they get handed a cell phone. Gee, what happens if the battery goes bad? Or their in a bad tower area? They are so __ucked! They were/are only taught to press a button in case of emergency! ON the victory side? WE are the lucky ones. WE have figured out WHO/ the enemy really IS. All those who are in denial...and I'd venture to say the list is LOOONG.....we are SO AHEAD OF THE GAME!!! Lizzie From: svetaswan@...
