Guest guest
Hi Lorna and welcome to our forum where I hope you get the support you need. You sound to be more stressed by your new doctor than you should be. How long have you been diagnosed with Grave's Disease. I wonder how much of your symptoms are down to adrenal insufficiency. Have you thought about having the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile done through Genova Diagnostics (www.gdx.uk.net ). It does £70 which is a lot of money, but honestly, it is worth every penny, especially if it is found you do suffer adrenal insufficiency because once treated, you will find everything suddenly dropping into place. This tests your cortisol and DHEA levels at four specific times in the day. Can you telephone the surgery and remind them they were going to send you your thyroid function blood tests and ask them to be posted to you )or could you collect them at their reception) - a doctor cannot withhold these from you. The reference range for TSH is so wide in the UK and we need to know where your Free T4 and Free T3 lie - they could be at the bottom, the middle, or right at the top of the reference range, and just because they are within the range does not mean they are normal. I wouldn't register with a new GP just yet, let's find out a little more about you and see if we can pin-point the problem and try to straighten things out with him first. If he truly doesn't want to cooperate, then you will need to try somebody else. Luv - Sheila I have registered with a new GP ( 6 months) and have been to the surgery more times than I care to mention during this time. I have a diagnosis of Graves; had very mild symptoms but was over treated with carbimazole. Consequently, my health has never been the same. I still have racing heartbeat, drug sensitivities, IBS, skin complaints, stopped menustrating for 6 months, sensitive to cold, hair loss, brain fog, excessive tiredness, early morning waking between 3am and 4am, increased anxiety, mood swings the list goes on. My thyroid results were reported to be in range and to be honest the thought of going back to my GP makes me feel even more anxious. I have requested my blood results also put it in writing I am yet to obtain them. I leave the surgery feeling like a hypochondriac and frustrated. I am told that at 43 I might be going through the change and it is normal for some women to have periods 2 to 3 times a year however there has to be some caution as it might make me vulnerable to cancer! Should I register with a new GP? I really want my health back I have been suffering for 3 years now which is 3 years too long. thanks for any advice lorna No virus found in this incoming message.
