Guest guest
Hopefully so, my husband is away for a while so I couldnt get to the other doctors till he got back anyway. She has all of my records from the other doctors (She has to send paperwork to the insurance company every 6 months for me to continue with the other doctors) I have been neglecting some things she wanted me to do so I am gearing myself up to get them done or else I am going to get fussed at. LOL!! Guest guest
I got the plates n tags but I still worry about the people who could be worse. I solved my guilt by using the handicap spaces only when I need them. If I am having a good day n I can make the walk, then that's what I do. I feel less guilty when I am in lots of pain n can't barely walk at all. I look young, healthy n normal. U can't tell by looking at me..... I see them abused all the time n people parking there who don't have stickers at all. Makes me so angry!! Wish I was an undercover cop so I could get them....I have a bad habit of confronting those who r parked illegally....I always disliked the spaces being abused but I am much more vocal now that it has a more personal impact. I had to get 2 or 3 temporary ones before I could get a permanent one. They were convinced at my age it wasn't permanent. I showed them...LOL. Guest guest
hi group I too have a handicapped place card I have actually been accused by the police in our area of using my parents card at 42 I have had my place card for almost 8 years I too only use it on my bad days which are coming a lot more lately just last night I was grilled again but I was so ticked I stood there and had the officer stay just before I exited my car 2 very young girls in school jackets and stiletto heels cut off a very elderly gentleman to steal his handicapped spot when the came running out of the store he questioned them to find that they had actually stolen the place card from the lady that lived near them she is only 35 but in a wheel chair the rest of her life I think that store surveillance should have a guard watch the parking lot cameras and call police whenever there is an illegally parked car or someone that you can easily tell not the owner of the car or give them the authority to question the driver and have the vehicle towed **************Get the Moviefone Toolbar. Guest guest
Hi All I know what you mean about people abusing there handicap tags my neice has Cerebral Palsy and my brother in-law never takes the tag out of the window he uses it for himself even when she is not in the car. I yell at him all the time for it, he will say I am only running in the store for just a minute and then he says beside you are handicapped and I say well I am not getting out of the car. Now my sister sometimes can't even find a spot to park when she has my neice with her and it is so hard to get the wheel chair out in a regular parking spot. Some people just really don't care they just use it to get the cloest spot to the door. I have a tag but I only use it when my husband and I go grocery shopping and I am having a really bad day otherwise i will not use it. Keep On Smiling Kathy Sweet > > Cherese > If your doctor will sign for you to get the handicap sticker it doesn't mean that you have to use it If you are having a good day and feel like walking then do it. But, it doesn't hurt to have the sticker for those days when you don't feel you can handle the walking. > > Good for you for realizing that your husband would be willing to abuse your handicap sticker. Unfortunately there are many more people like your husband than there are people like you. Just look around, you see them everyday. You see handicapped people using the spaces to let someone else run into a store. If the handicap person is staying in the vehicle they don't need to be parked in a handicap spot. > > Dorothy > > > >
Guest guest
Hi, Exactly or she has to squeeze and carry my neice between the two car to get her to the back of the car to the wheelchair and then the people that own the car next to her look at her like she is wasteing there time by having her doors open and in there way. I have yelled at some of the people and she say don't worry about it, they are just close minded people, it makes me so angry like you can't see that the child is hanicapped, no all you see is that someone is taking a few minute in your precious day. Some people need to learn to slow down and appreciate life you know. Guest guest
Some people are just so stupid!! I had a situation where I was getting into the car and since I just did quite a bit of walking in the store with hubby my nerve pain was flaring and the leg spasms were about to start. So I was moving really slow. While my husband was holding the door open for me and helping me in a lady pulled up wanting the handicap spot next to us. She sat there like right behind me looking mad that it was taking so long for me to get in the car. My husband got mad and started saying that there were a ton of handicap spots open (I was hurting too much to say anything) but she just kept sitting there looking angry. He got me in the car and closed the door. She pulled into her spot got out, grabbed a toddler from the back seat and walked in carrying him. Needless to say hubby was mad. Guest guest
- you are NOT going to worry about Armour, you are going to get well and be very happy and positive and throw all your concerns down the lavatory pan. Worry causes stress on the adrenals, which you don't want right now 'cos you have spent so long getting them better. Be happy, it's Christmas, you have got your Armour, your HC worked - think positive. Wait and see what Armour actually DOES to your body and stop worrying that it might cause problems. You should never be negative in your thinking. Just telling other members that you are scared of using Armour makes them wonder if there is something to be scared about, and there just isn't . If you have decided to use Armour, then be like Mr Asquith said and " Wait and See " . Luv - Sheila I always worry when I start new medication that I might be allergic to it, if I was allergic to armour would I know by now? I have took half a grain today, thanks. Guest guest
When I have them, I will take two 350 mg Soma's so that not only do I get to sleep at night but it really helps with the muscle stiffness that I suffer from when I get up. Some times the stiffness in my back is so bad that I can barely walk, forget bending over or trying to sit down for a little while. And when I don't have that, I will take, normally on a regular basis, an over the counter sleeping aid that is sold at Walmart. Without an aid to sleep I normally sleep about five hours due to the pain and stiffness, and that is not counting how many times I wake up during the night. But, the best suggestion that I can give you is to get a really good bed to sleep in. My aunt Cleo has a bed made by Denver Mattress and when I sleep on it I don't have near the problems falling asleep nor getting up in the mornings. I wish that I could sleep on that bed all the time. It was like a $1000 to buy, but in my opinion it is well worth it. I am fixing to start a job that I just recently got after moving here to s, Texas. My aunt is a CFO at the local hospital and knows about my medical problems so she found me the perfect job. I will be a weekend ward at the nursing home where all I do is answer phones, a little filing, and getting a blanket or two for the residents. I am so excited since I have not worked in nearly or right at three years. It will be part time only since I may be starting school this spring semester again, my aunt wants me to work on getting my master's degree in Physician Assistant. I am thinking about it. Guest guest
Dear Kathy, Since apparently from what I can tell your email that you have not taken the Soma before I would suggest just taking one. When I take two the only side effect that I seem to have is I feel like I am a little drunk, sometimes a little more than usual if I take it on an empty stomache. So just try one. Everyone's tolerance is different plus some meds don't effect people the same that weigh more or less. I am currently weighing over 200 pounds still, however since I have had my thyroidectomy I have lost 40 pounds. YEA!!! Between steroids and thyroid issues I have become pretty round. I have been on muscle relaxers for a couple of years so I may have a higher tolerance to Soma's than you do. So please if you do take them just start trying them out with just one. Don't take two at first until you know how they will do you. I know that when I take them I take them like that only at night like when I am going to bed. I do not take them like during the day or when there is a possiblity that I will be driving. But, I do know this, doing this works for me so I can get the much needed rest that I need. Guest guest
Hello Ann Yes the upper oesophageal sphincter IS relevant to Achalasia so 5 different docs have told me when I asked about it. It is located in the base of the throat (in the hollow of the base) under the voicebox at the top of the Oesophagus and is part of the portion left in after patients have an ectomy. Drawings and photos of the throat show it as Cricopharyngeal Sphincter of the Oesophagus. I have Achalasia of this muscle which when closed can cause any excretions i:e saliva to go down the wrong way into the lungs. I am sure Notan can explain this better. Not a lot of attention has been given to the UES in achalasia. There are some articles about connections though. Keep in mind that there is some debate about what the normal action of the UES is and how activity should be measured and interpreted. See the studies on aging and gender for examples of that. Incomplete upper esophageal sphincter relaxation: association with achalasia but not other esophageal motility disorders. 1997 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9190101 Manometric findings of the upper esophageal sphincter in esophageal achalasia. 1998 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9747164 " Our results suggest that UES relaxation in patients with esophageal achalasia is incomplete compared with that in healthy adults. This UES abnormality is not a primary defect but a secondary phenomenon. " Abnormal upper esophageal sphincter function in achalasia. 1992 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1449131 " The major manometric finding in achalasia is an increased residual pressure in the UES. Other differences seen in patients with achalasia include a reduction in the duration of UES relaxation with swallowing and a more rapid onset of pharyngeal contraction after UES relaxation. " A High-resolution View of Achalasia. 2008 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19077727 " ... rhythmic contractions of the upper esophageal sphincter and striated muscle esophagus were frequently observed. " Compare those with these studies on the effects of aging and gender. Aging-related alterations in human upper esophageal sphincter function. 1990 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2252018 " Our studies indicate that aging is associated with lower resting UES pressure and delayed UES relaxation, relative to the pharyngeal peak. " Are manometric parameters of the upper esophageal sphincter and pharynx affected by age and gender? 2003 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14506987 " Subjects older than 60 years (n = 23) showed a significant lower UES resting pressure. In addition, during water swallows they had a higher UES residual pressure, shorter UES relaxation interval and UES relaxation duration, and a decreased UES relaxation rate. Furthermore, pharyngeal contraction had significant higher amplitude and longer duration in subjects older than 60 years during water swallows. Some of these findings were also observed during cookie and pudding swallows. Women had a higher UES resting pressure and a longer UES relaxation interval than men.
