Guest guest
But...Dietary fat is not fattening. WHITE carbs are fattening. Flour, sugar, pasta, rice, and potatoes. Butter is better for you than margarine. Margarine is 2 steps away from plastic. Set a tub of margarine outside. Even cockroaches and other bugs won't touch it, it also won't mold. That is not food, again- that is two steps away from plastic. Eat real butter. We don't need a HIGH fat diet, we need a full fat diet. Huge difference. We need fat in our diets, heck... you need fat to burn fat. You need fat to stay satiated and satisfied. You do not need WHITE carbs. Popcorn, I can't think of a reason not to eat it. Put a hint of olive oil and paprika on it. Or whatever spice you like. I'm not a fan of popcorn but on the rare occasion I do eat it I put a little olive oil (EVOO) and garlic. Yum! Did you know that in the 70s dietitians were advocating eating all the bread and pasta we wanted but just not to put fat on it such as butter? What happened with the low fat craze? Today 66% of us are fat! They actually suggested a bagel with sugary jelly for breakfast. We have come a long way since the 70s. Today we know that a full (not high) fat diet is fine, white carbs are our demons. On Sun, Aug 28, 2011 at 1:56 AM, CherylH <boernecheryl@...> wrote: JMHO but I believe its because he wants us to stop our old bad habits of eating unhealthy fattening foods. Guest guest
I'm with Bipley on this one. Have made it to goal (Lost 124 pounds in 18 months) with very little feeling of deprivation on a full-fat, high-protein, very limited white carb diet. - My labs are splendid and I have maintained vitamin and essential mineral levels with careful supplementation. I will, in moderation eat almost anything - although I rarely eat white carbs, other than the little bit of sugar in 85% dark chocolate. What I don't eat, ever? trans fats. For me it's butter, olive oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil and peanut oil. Occasionally walnut or sesame oil. That, and the fat in meat is pretty much it. With this my HDL is up, my LDL is down, and my triglycerides are really, really low. I am convinced that it was the sugars in my diet that propelled my formerly high blood lipid levels. Guest guest
I think the key is knowing which fats are healthy and which carbs are healthy. Thanks for making the distinction on trans fats and good fats. Just as white carbs and complex carbs are totally different. Guest guest
I'm not sure what measurements Dr. Oz was using (or what brand of popcorn), but according to Calorie King, 5 cups of white popcorn popped in oil is only 275 calories. Add in however much butter you're adding (a whole stick is only 810), and I find the 1700 calorie claim to be just a little excessive. Perhaps he was talking about movie theater popcorn with butter? I didn't see a listing for that at the site below, but you'd have to eat a lot of popcorn to reach 1700 calories, even if you used a whole stick of butter... Guest guest
Hi folks, I am going to have to start looking into the legal logistics of protesting after the fact, When the sign goes up saying: PROPOSED LAND USE ACTION! The public then has a certain time to attend the public meeting and make comments or protest the tower or antenna to be installed. People are so clueless and ignorant about cell towers, rarely does anyone even show up, so the cell companies have free reign. So then after the thing is installed, it is too little to late. They should have spoken up when they had the chance. I am having that difficulty right now. I know of 3 PROPOSED LAND USE ACTION SIGNS in a close neighborhood stating they are going to put cell towers up. Well, I have gone to people's homes in this neighborhood, health food stores, stores, etc. and talked to people who live in the neighborhood telling them about my sickness, to get off their duff and attend the meetings and protest. They think I am crazy and they are not even going to do anything about it. We are dealing with incredible public ignorance and apathy. I even spoke to a couple of engineers who lived in the neighborhood who said I was crazy because they know all about microwaves and they believe the towers were not harmful. I tell them I am getting sick from them, but it doesn't phase them . I have to tell you, I was very discouraged in my campaigning. But I am going to consult an attorney and find out what some options might be for dismantling a tower that has already been installed. i am sure it is going to have to be a neighborhood wide protest. Some of the contracts they have written up give the company rights to the property for 5-20 years. Superdrove From: KathyB <calicocat477@...> Subject: Question Date: Friday, September 16, 2011, 2:59 PM  Is there anything a church could do if a tower is put on land next to them that they don't own? Guest guest
Hi Kim,  I get that lump in throat feeling sometimes and my Dr. says its due to air. Since your LES is cleaved air is often shared between the stomach and the e. particularly after swallowing a meal or simetimes when I have bad allerigies and have post nasal drip etc... I think the best gauge of your swallowing is if liquids become a problem. I find breads can be eaten if you toast it, use butter, and eat slowly with sips of water in between bites/swallows. Guest guest
Kim, haven't had a Heller yet (but *finally* got an appt. with a surgeon, lol!), but this is from the wiki on wraps: Vomiting is often difficult or even impossible with a fundoplication. In some cases, the purpose of this operation is to correct excessive vomiting. However, when its purpose is to reduce gastric reflux, difficulty in vomiting may be an undesired outcome. Initially, vomiting is impossible; however, small amounts of vomit may be produced after the wrap settles over time, and in extreme cases such as alcohol poisoning or food poisoning, the patient may be able to vomit freely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissen_fundoplication Hope that helps! xox > > i wanted to know something. i had a heller in sept. all is good. food goes down with no prob except bread not too good. have gained 15 pounds. but what i wanted to know is this... have many of yall have recurrance of swallowing problems after a heller? and if so how long did it last? and if it doesnt then what would be next? and is there anything i should know to do maybe to make this last? what information can you pass on to me? last night i had eaten potato soup for supper and much later i could still feel that lump in my E. but i can hardly throw up now. i have a few times but i used to be able to stick out my tongue and barf. now i cant do it as well even if i feel something in there. i have not had any reflux at all.but i am going to say this may be totally unrelated as i have had problems with my neck. Guest guest
Hi Kim I'm 3 years out from my surgery and bread often causes a problem for me too. I think I tend to swallow too large a piece because it is so soft. A Heller doesn't fix swallowing problems. After surgery we still have achalasia and nothing can fix that. Although the sensation I had of swallowing glass shards disappeared after surgery and my ability to swallow has greatly improved. Not sure why. Maybe now that I don't have food sitting in my esophagus causing irritation, food and saliva no longer go down and then come back up. As the nerves die in our esophagus, we rely more and more on gravity alone to get solids and liquids down. This means small bites that are well chewed and washed down with swallows of liquid. If I get the sensation of food stuck in my esophagus, I drink a half glass of water slowly and that is usually enough to wash it down. I know when food reaches my stomach when I burp. Before I had surgery I found it very easy to regurgitate the food trapped at the bottom of my esophagus. Now that food goes into my stomach there is nothing left to bring up. Could you have mistook regurgitation for vomiting? Usually it's a partial wrap performed for achalasia, a Dor (anterior) or Toupet (posterior) both which should allow vomiting. It's the Nissen (full) fundoplication performed for reflux that prevents vomiting and burping. > > i wanted to know something. i had a heller in sept. all is good. food goes down with no prob except bread not too good. have gained 15 pounds. but what i wanted to know is this... have many of yall have recurrance of swallowing problems after a heller? and if so how long did it last? and if it doesnt then what would be next? and is there anything i should know to do maybe to make this last? what information can you pass on to me? last night i had eaten potato soup for supper and much later i could still feel that lump in my E. but i can hardly throw up now. i have a few times but i used to be able to stick out my tongue and barf. now i cant do it as well even if i feel something in there. i have not had any reflux at all.but i am going to say this may be totally unrelated as i have had problems with my neck. My right arm goes to sleep and hurts a lot and my husband says it is a nerve. i wonder if it could be related. >
Guest guest
Since I have been taking over 50mg of Iodoral, I have noticed when I urinate, the toilet water has bubbles that stay on the surface for quite some time; has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? Thanks. Bill
