Guest guest
As a physicist I don't see how the polarity should matter, at least at the wrists or ankles. A very strong magnet can cause your blood cells to stick together. Not recommended especially if you have circulation issues. It's not clear how they are supposed to help, but there have been reports that some people like them (not sure if it has anything to do with EHS issues). Negative is good and heals, Positive encourages bacteria growth and mimics power line exposure. The idea is that the stronger outside magnet, recharges the cell's magnetic properties, just like putting a weak physical magnet next to a larger stronger one will " Recharge " the smaller one. However, I found I could not use it as a " rejuvenation during sleep " as it was intended. Whether or not my cells need recharging, I don't deny is probable, but for me, because of my sensitivity, it made my headache/migrane worse. It may be as Marc has experienced in other applications, that I did too much too fast. Only now do I consider this explanation, as I have over the years simply avoided magnets as something I am sensitive to without a clear explanation as how to regard them. As for including them in clothes and wrap on helpers for sports and horses, etc, I only shake my head and think " You don't know what you're messing with. " Can anybody properly explain how to use these gizmos safely? Sounds familiar, huh?
Guest guest
Hi, I have used Magnet therapy for 2 yrs with great success. But caution is advised because many companies sell magnets that are mis-labeled, as to which side really IS north polarity, and which side is south polarity. It is IMPORTANT to know which side is which; as You will get totally DIFFERENT results, depending upon WHICH polarity you use, on a magnet!! This isn't done out of incompetence, but because it depends upon " which sources of information " the magnet company is using. For finding the poles of a magnet with a compass: turn the compass so that the magnetic needle points to North. Bring one side of your magnet directly up to the compass needle. If the needle does not move, it means that the side of the magnet facing the compass IS the north magnetic pole side. (Get a marker or masking tape and LABEL your magnet! This way you will know which side is which.) This is true North polarity. Some companies label their magnets south, when it is really north, which makes it very difficult to use the therapy in ways that are helpful. There is a conditon called: Magnetic Field Deficiency, believed to occur because electric appliances and A/C electricity produces positive (south) ions, while our bodies run on negative (north) ions. What happens is, our sensitive electric body's get over-run/over powered by the postive ions, which causes the cells to have reverse polarity. This may be why many people find it so restful to listen to the rain (negative ions) or spend time at the beach. It helps the body re-balance. There are differing schools of thought when it comes to magnet therapy. Positive south polarity on a magnetic can increase cancer tumors. While negative/north side polarity reverses/ decreases inflammation. *Knowing how to use the magnets and HOW to test your magnet is of vital importance. True south is said to increase pain, and north to do the opposite, by reducing inflammation. *Seeds exposed to south polarity for 6-200 hrs showed improved germination and growth rate, with hardier plants and higher yields. This seems to validate south induces growth. Book source: " MAGNETISM AND ITS EFFECTS ON THE LIVING SYSTEM " by Roy & Walter C. Rawls, Jr. I have found this book quoted in many other magnet books. Using this book has been very helpful. Another good book is: Healing With Magnets by Null. Another good one is: Biomagnetic and Herbal Therapy by Dr. Tierra. CAUTION **For anyone deciding to try Magnet Therapy, it is a really WISE idea to only put them on your skin for a few minutes at a time, do this 3 or 4 or 5 times a day- to get the body acclimated. For those very sensitive, the magnet can cause pain, which tends to scare people. If the area is bruised, for example, and you are using the Magnetic correctly, on NORTH polarity, leaving the magnet on for longer then a few mnutes at a time, can make the wearer feel very weird, or cause pain. Often, this is due to the body being so out of whack...and not due to the therapy itself. Go slowly! There have been many I know, who used magnet therapy, who felt immediate relief. And others, who had to proceed very very slowly. But upon day 2, felt the immediate relief that didn't come right away. We have found that using magnets on north polarity side facing the skin, helps with ES. But as with all things, what works with some may not work with others. I have loaned out my magnetic pads numberous times in the past few years for people suffering from: one was a fractured collarbone, magnet on north polarity helped greatly. Another was knee problems, same north helped greatly. Two were back problems, north helped greatly. Another was a giant bruise from waist to ankles, magnetic pad north side reduced swelling within 24 hrs so this woman could actually use the bathroom with screaming in pain. Another was where I placed tiny tiny magnets on my daughter's face, north polarity to help with a severe allergy attack. It worked wonderful. We have found that wearing the oblong ceramic magnets on our wrist also help with ES, and sometimes I just wear a magnet on my left ankle, on the inside. For me, there has been only proof...but it took learning to use the magnets the right way. Guest guest
read that line as WITHOUT screaming in pain. This is a person who often held a cell phone in one hand, a cordless phone in the other. She fell one day...and ended up vividly bruised from the waist down to ankles. While I gave her tons of info on cell phones/cordless phones....all I can say is; blood brain barrier opened/mind shut down to new information...the list of theories is endless. Guest guest
I have often thought that using torroids or RF chokes designed to be warn on the body might help, say placing them on meridian points. As for basic magnets I would say that they are a bit hit and miss. You could try looking up Coghill and the institute of magnet therapy to sus this out. Your best bet is EMF mitigation, distance/avoidance/sheilding and so on puk In a message dated 11/06/2011 09:40:56 GMT Daylight Time, wbruno@... writes: As a physicist I don't see how the polarity should matter, at least at the wrists or ankles. Guest guest
Many ESsers report being harmed or not helped by magnets. (I personally have no horse in this race--I have never gone there.) I have read in one of the tight junction research studies, however, about the iron in the blood/ cells having a polarity and which, I think the study found, tight junction permeability allows the iron to shift polarity when the tight junctions are opened. This would suggest that polarity for us might possibly be compromised and that magnets might be constantly needing to be reversed. Just a thought; I have sketchy memory of this and no way to re-find the study easily. Diane > > > > > > > Hi. Guest guest
Thanks for the info, Cheryl. It is not necessarily the case then, that all ES people would react to magnets! Good to know.  Diane > > > > > > > Hi. Guest guest
I have Nikken insoles I really like for years now. It took a couple days to get use to them, just feet on them a little at a time to start as it really gets something going. I don't know that it helps esens, but if it helps the body with energy or stress at all, it is that much more we have to use for dealing with the emf stuff. I recently got a magnetic mattress pad. I'm not sleeping as much better as I'd hoped to, but it does seem to have some good effect. A few nights back I took it off the bed to sleep w/o again, and I could tell a bigger difference that way. Definitely better with, than w/o. Also, polarity, the negative/north side increases circulation, while the positive side causes stagnation. So, it depends what you are trying to accomplish, but usually it is the north pole that will have beneficial physical attributes. ~ Snoshoe > > > From: Cheryl g <cheryl_griffing@...> > Subject: Re: Has anyone been helped by using magnets? > > Date: Sunday, June 12, 2011, 3:15 AM > > I have been faithfully using my Nikken magnetic insoles for many years now. Guest guest
Just a quick note..I have found that when working with people and magnets, the more out of whack their system is, the longer it may take for the magnets to work...and the more important it is, to start S L O W! When the body's polarity is out of balance, it can't be fixed over night. Going too fast can cause discomfort. Lizzie P.S. He's right...north/negative is the side you want to wear towards the body. Again, caution is exercised as some company's label their north " south " and vice versa. From: snoshoe_2@... Guest guest
Just a cheap compass will work. Hold the magnet by it, and see which side brings the arrow to it, indicating north. I can tell almost immediately 98% of the time just by holding it against me, I start getting an icky feeling if it's the south side against my body. ~ Snoshoe > > How will I tell what's north/south? 1 person said north increased circulation, while others said it decreased it, so now I'm not sure how to tell.
