Guest guest
I just got 3 different ones from Amazon.com, to compare. #1) GSI Super-Quality Waterproof Long-Life Rechargeable Camping Lamp/Lantern - 17 Bright LED Bulbs - Built In Solar Panels - Includes Compass A terrible design. I returned it. The bulbs are at the base of the lantern, with a reflector at the top, hence the light shines right in your eyes, but noplace useful. it would have worked if i could have set it upside down, but the top is curved, with a small compass imbedded in it. #2) d.light S10 Solar LED Lantern d/light makes solar-charged lights for 3rd world countries. This is a great lantern. Very light, and smaller than " traditional-sized " lanterns Low and high settings. Handle so you can easily hang it, and the handle has a snap-in position that allows you to change the angle of the lantern as it is either sitting or hanging. Definitely bright enough to read by. And only $15. As a lot of light comes out of the clear bottom of the lantern, you get the most light if you elevate it. I've been setting it on top of the chimney of an unlighted oil lamp, which works great. And is thought-provoking. #3) d.light S250 Solar LED Lantern Another winner. This one comes with a 4 X 6 " corded solar panel and a variety of adapters to use to charge mobile phones. it's sort of a triangular box, with the light shining out from a 3X3 " panel on one side. Four brightness settings. The top setting is extremely bright and could be used to light quite a large work area outside at night. Any setting higher than the first one is too bright to look at directly. Hold the control button down for 2 seconds and it will flash to indicate how fully charged the battery is. $45 #4) I also have 2 lanterns from Ledtronics that I've had for over 11 years, that I like, but that particular model (with warm white light!) is no longer available. I need to replace the batteries before I can compare the brightness with that of the new lanterns I just got. I am impressed, though, that the batteries have lasted this long. Guest guest
Thanks! But please test each with an AM radio tuned to top and bottom ends of the dial. I have a solar flashlight that makes the radio buzz, and a latern that flashes a light even when " off " !
