Effect of Bed Rest on Bone Loss

Nutrition is important. But a little exercise is important too,

to avoid skeleton bone loss. Look what happens when you are on

strict bed rest:

``It is now recognized that an unloading of the skeleton, either due to

strict bed rest or in zero gravity, leads on average to a 1%-2%

reduction in bone mineral density at selected skeletal sites each

month.'' - [3]

You *need* some exercise to make sure your remaining bones don't

dissolve away through disuse.
