Guest guest
...........But the healing powers of omega-3s don't stop there. Research suggests they may reduce the risk of diabetes, reduce insulin resistance in people with diabetes, enhance bone density and inhibit proliferation of cancer cells in the breast, prostate and colon and improve skin condition by curbing psoriasis. Inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease seem to improve with more omega-3s. In infants, it improves cognition and visual acuity. And emerging research indicates omega-3s may boost levels of the brain chemicals serotonin and dopamine, decreasing depression and violent behavior.......... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A17258-2004Mar23.html

Guest guest
Its the same formula. How much are you giving? Try adding EPA (2 EFA capsules + 1 EPA). If you see results, consider giving that twice a day after 2 or 3 weeks. Not sure why everyone waited for months before adding EPA? I think it was just the way it was done. But for those kids who respond - if adding the EPA was going to get you to several work sentences, wouldn't you want to add it sooner? Six months is a very long time to wait for an otherwise benign intervention. If there is no progress, you are no worse off. -claudia [ ] Re: Omega 3's I was just wondering if Omega 3-6-9 by Nordic naturals (Junior) will work the same way as the Pro EFA ? Guest guest
Marisa, is correct in that it is the same formula as ProEFA - except since you are using the " jr " version in (either the professional or) the commercial line, then you are using a 1/2 dosage of the regular. (and to put this in perspective the full capsule size of ProEFA/369 is about equivalent to the dosage of EFAs approved by the FDA for infant formula -so 1/2 the dosage of what a baby would get to give you an idea of how conservative a dosage the 1/2 dosage is!!) On the other hand if you are trying to teach your child to swallow the capsules (vs. piercing them with a pin) or for whatever reason you want the 1/2 dosage -the Jr. version is great. If not - it's about twice as expensive (but you do get a way cuter bottle) So to follow what most of us use as an increase -the 2 to 1 ratio of ProEFA to ProEPA that mentions below -you would have to use 4 capsules of the Jr. (or 2 capsules of the regular/not jr. size) to one capsule of the ProEPA. Hope that didn't confuse more! =====
Guest guest
Marissa - the Nordic Naturals Omega 3 6 9 is exactly the same as the Nordic Naturals ProEFA, but the Junior version of Omega 3 6 9 probably contains a lower dose. Check the labels on Nordic Naturals website to see the differences. You may have to give a higher dose of the Junior formula to equal the regular formula that many of us use. > > I was just wondering if Omega 3-6-9 by Nordic naturals (Junior) will > work the same way as the Pro EFA ? Guest guest
Just 1 junior tablet is 1/8 tsp - VERY little, and probably not going to do much. So to get to the equivalent of 1/2 tsp you need 4 juniors. I give my older son (dyslexic, ADHD before supplements, now evil twin is gone) , nearly 5 year old the juniors (4) plus one EPA. He gets this twice a day. My apraxic nearly 3 year old gets the equivalent dose three time a day, but I use the liquid because its easier for him to take. - --------- [ ] Re: Omega 3's > > > > > > I was just wondering if Omega 3-6-9 by Nordic naturals (Junior) > will > > work the same way as the Pro EFA ?
