Hello,

I joined the group a couple weeks ago, after reading the recent two

CR articles in the Washington Post.

I am 39 year old woman who has been a vegetarian for 10 years and is

in transition to becoming a vegan. I hope to become pregnant in the

near future, which will prevent me from truly adopting a CRON diet

for at least several months. In the meantime, I want to

learn as much as I can about CRON by joining this support group and

reading recommended books. I have also begun a moderate daily

exercise regimen. My long-term health goals are to reduce my

cholesterol, lower my blood pressure and lose weight.

I would especially appreciate hearing personal experiences, advice,

etc. from moms who followed a vegetarian, vegan or CRON diet before

becoming pregnant and/or postpartum. Thank you.

Hi Chezo,

I have two sons; the youngest is 11 months. I am still nursing him. I

experimented with being vegan before my pregnancy, and read some

articles. The overwhelming message I came away with was to take

vitamin B12 sublingual high-quality supplements, or you can do real

damage to the fetus' brain (and your nursing baby afterward). I found

some supplements at my local health food store--I think the brand was

Jarrow?

I ended up switching back to a regular diet for my pregnancy and am

just now starting to avoid chicken (not entirely though) again. I am

going to keep the dairy and eggs in my diet, though.
