I don't always agree with Fortune's politics, but the writers do at least attempt balance in presenting new ideas. As for calorie counting, I've been keeping a daily food log for a decade. I find it way too easy to "forget" that I had a few extra snacks which can add up to major calories. The other value of a food diary is I can assess what kind of food intake keeps me sated and what leaves me hungry. I note on the food log how many servings of veggies/fruits I have per day and how much fiber. I find that with 7 plus servings of fruits/veggies and 30 or more grams of fiber, I'm not hungry.
