Guest guest
The discussion regarding starting with optimal nutrition or starting with CR has been interesting, and I agree with most of the points made. However, I think one point needs to be made: a lot of people need to make a drastic change or else no real change will happen. I know that at least one person like this exists because it applies to me. I've always been addicted to ad lib eating. Not necessarily to excess all the time, or without regard to good nutrition, but I just never wanted to worry about every little thing that I ate. It seemed like such a drag. CR is the first thing to actually get me excited and to care about "every little thing I eat". ON is great, but without the CR part I don't think it differs much from the average person's diet, which probably has plenty of nutrients (e.g. a meal at home), but also a *lot* of extra calories (e.g. the useless rich dessert that comes after). What makes *me* stop and think about my diet is trying to get all necessary nutrients in only 1,500 calories. *That* is the thing that makes me choose fruits, vegetables, and whole grains over other foods when both are placed before me.
