Guest guest
, I have used organo to treat candida overgrowth. I found it more effective than all the powerful antifungals. The products I used were herbal, oregamax, and extract, oreganol, from North American Herb and Spice. The book " The Cure is in the Cupboard " deals with the use of these products...is worth buying. Guest guest
d I have used essential oil of oregano, oil or oregano as well as oregano tea for well over ten years to deal successfully with several kinds of infections including bronchitis, pneumonia, cat scratch fever and fungal issues. Some of these infections did not respond to pharmaceuticals. And, at this point, I can't afford most pharmaceuticals anyway. Currently, I am using a 10% dilution of essential oil of oregano to treat a bad tooth along with some myrrh and goldenseal. I have never heard of JUICE of oregano, can you provide a link? A little goes a long way, don't overdo it. mjh Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2005 04:28:58 -0000 From: " Doyon " <prd34@...> Subject: Oregano Hi, Has anyone experimented with this herb. I took a tablespoon of Juice of Oregano mixed with vitamin C and sea salt last night and could really feel it working. Apparently, it with its two main active constituents - thymol and carvacrol - is a powerful anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and also an immune modulator. http://www.se1.us/health/oregano/moreinfo.html http://www.oil-of-oregano.com/oregano/Oregano-Research.html A search on PubMed gives 160 hits. Guest guest
, Mel and all For essential oil of Oregano, I get it from www.av-at.com very high quality and reputable. I then dilute this essential oil to 10% with olive oil. THis is similar to some of the products listed below but it is much cheaper. For a water extract of Oregano (Oreganum vulgare) I get the dried, bulk herb from places like Sam's Club, Costco and Gordon Food Service. then, I make a concentrate. To make a macerate (oil of Oregano) put the dried oregano and olive oil to tightly fill a glass jar. Seal. Put in a warm place fr two weeks and watch for any sign of mold. If mold is present, throw it out. Else, after two weeks or so, squeeze the oil out of the herb and place the Oil of Oregano in a small dark jar/bottle. Some herbalists use a crock pot to speed up the process and maintain an even level of warmth. The three Oreganos I find most effective and have used extensively are: Oreganum vulgare Oreganum dubium Thymbra spicata Oregano is very potent and strong and it is most palatable incorporated into food to minimize discomfort. A little goes a long way. Hope this helps mjh Mel Baldwin <alphabear@d...> wrote: > , I have used organo to treat candida overgrowth. I found it more effective than all the powerful antifungals. Guest guest
Just for clarity, you are both right. Oregano is both an anti-bacterial, and an anti-fungal. Oregano is also: anti-infectious, anti-parasitic, anti-septic, anti-viral, analgesic (pain reliever) and an immune stimulant. It is best to rotate when using herbs and other remedies. As another alternative to using Oregano, there are 2 forms of Melaleuca (known also as Tea Tree). Both of these forms are also strong anti-fungals and anti-bacterials. The first is: Melaleuca Alternifolia, (this one is safe for kids.) And the 2nd is: Melaleuca Quinquenervia or (Niaouli). It is best to take the anti-fungals agents in one part of the day, and then take the probiotics hours later, to help replenish gut flora. Lizzie From: mercurybeater@... I have proved this by if I take more than 75 billion cfu probiotics i get the head symptoms, severe anxiety-head fog-etc so for now i am trying to avoid anthing that kills both good and bad bacteria (ie oregano and GSE) as i already have wat I belive to be a very low good bacteria level. to me its math equation being an accountant; if i have say 60-40% bad to good bacteria and oil of oregano/GSE kills equal amt of good and bad, then I am digging a deeper hole when i use these two supps michael > > > i was using oil of oregano and GSE but since they are anti-bacterial, and > > i believe yeast-fungus is an issue with me, i have stopped these two as i > > do not want to kill the good bacteria with the bad > > I think oil of oregano and GSE are both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. > And I think that with most of these things, you need to be supporting > the good bacteria with pre/probiotics while killing off the bad. > > Marc >
