Guest guest
Early humans ate what they could find, when they could find it. Their diets were inconsistent, because food availability varied with season, environment/ geography, and flora/fauna population cycles. We have the scientific method to guide us, and, notwithstanding price variations at the store, we can try to eat an optimum diet (based on our interpretations of research) consistently throughout the year. We know a lot about macro and micronutrients, and we can control our diets to optimize intake of nutrients while we minimize calories. That humans have thrived throughout the world on extremely different diets (e.g., Inuit eat mostly meat, no vegetables, most Hindus are vegetarian for generations) implies that we are very adaptable when it comes to food. Evolution does not select for longevity past reproductive age so it is incorrect to extrapolate from the putative " caveman " diet to discover what is best for CRON. Only the scientific method tells us what is optimum for longevity. This is part of Walford's legacy. Thin Man
