Guest guest
all European Anti-Emf organizations Dear all, The 2011 International Scientific Conference on EMF and Health will take plake on the 16th and the 17th of November 2011 at the European Parliament in Brussels. This conference is organized under the auspices of the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR). Althus it is the most important electrosmog-conference for all 27 countries of the European Union! As can be seen from the programme here: http://www.onetec.be/EMF2011/programme.html many speakers are invited, but most if not all of them are directly or indirectly linked to the telecom industry. And none of the scientists of whom their research has proven that there are harmful health effects of pulsed microwave radiation are invited to speak at the conference! We for instance refer to the following non-invited independent scientists and emf-specialists: L. Hardell, H. Lai, M. Kundi, F. Adlkofer, G. Oberfeld, O. Johansson, M. Havas etc. All of them have confirmed that they have not been invited at this conference. As we know, the exponential rise of electrosmog in the past decade in every house, school and city has become a major threat to public health. The health of children, millions of electrosensitives and future generations is at stake here! The politicians and the general public need to realize that public health is the utmost important and act accordingly. That's why during the conference we will protest at the entrance of the EU Parliament on Wednesday the 16th of November. We demand: - much less electrosmog with a regulation that fully applies the precautionary principle - recognition of electrohypersensitivity as a functional impairment (as in Sweden) We are convinced this EU-conference is the perfect opportunity for us, for the European Anti-Emf Organizations to cooperate and unite our protest. With this we invite you to protest together with us. Please keep us posted via e-mail at: steven@... Guest guest
It seems to be the same old story with these types of events. Maintaining the status quo. I only recognise three names from the list of participants (at least I think they're the same people I've come across before), beth Cardis, Norbert Leitgeb, and Rubin. beth Cardis was director of the Interphone studies, which announced that there was no evidence that mobile phones cause cancer. She then went on to say in an interview that: " In my personal opinion, I think we have a number of elements that suggest a possible increased risk among the heaviest users, and because the heaviest users in our study are considered the low users today, I think that's something of concern. Until stronger conclusions can be drawn one way or another it may be reasonable to reduce one's exposure. " . See: http://www.emfacts.com/2010/05/1260-elizabeth-cardis-on-the-interphone-findings/ Leitgeb has done some studies on electrosensitive sufferers, including one where he tested magnetic field provocation using a magnetically shielded Helmholtz coil for exposing forearms to magnetic field intensities up to 90 mT/50 Hz., and concluded that : " The results presented can be interpreted as evidence for the existence of the phenomenon of electromagnetic hypersensitivity in terms of significantly increased ability to perceive electric current densities. This constitutes a necessary, but not a sufficient condition for EHS and does not prove that environmental electric and magnetic fields are causally related to health symptoms. That the variability of electrosensibility, including hypersensibility, is larger than estimated so far, but smaller than claimed by EHS self-aid groups, is important for the discussion of whether the existing EMF exposure limits also account for EHS subgroups. " He also reported that women are significantly more sensitive to electricity than men, but that the reasons for this finding have not been sufficiently explained yet. " See: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12929157 Rubin is the researcher the telecommunications industry often puts forward to refute any causal relation between EMFs and electrosensitivity. Rubin did a review of 31 experiments on electosensitive sufferers, and found that : " Results: Thirty-one experiments testing 725 " electromagnetically hypersensitive " participants were identified. Twenty-four of these found no evidence to support the existence of a biophysical hypersensitivity, whereas 7 reported some supporting evidence. For 2 of these 7, the same research groups subsequently tried and failed to replicate their findings. In 3 more, the positive results appear to be statistical artefacts. The final 2 studies gave mutually incompatible results. Our metaanalyses found no evidence of an improved ability to detect EMF in " hypersensitive " participants. Conclusions: The symptoms described by " electromagnetic hypersensitivity " sufferers can be severe and are sometimes disabling. However, it has proved difficult to show under blind conditions that exposure to EMF can trigger these symptoms. This suggests that " electromagnetic hypersensitivity " is unrelated to the presence of EMF, although more research into this phenomenon is required. " See: http://www.psychosomaticmedicine.org/content/67/2/224.abstract I have seen his name put forward several times by mobile industry and others who downplay electrosensitivity. The thing that is constantly ignored is that all of these tests were probably totally flawed. The electrosensitives were all treated the same, as if they react in the same way to the same sources. Until it is hammered home to the World Health Organisation and other institutions that electrosensitive sufferers often have differing symptoms, and that those who have the same symptoms do not react, as someone put it, like light switches or lamps, whose pain goes on and off immediately to the on/off sources of EMFs used in the tests. Also, as others continually point out here, the pain/agitation involved may not arise for some time after the exposure. These people seem to treat the tests as if the on/off exposure will initiate an easily recognizable shock of pain that will immediately be recognizable on the turning on of the source, and will then immediately dissipate or disappear on the turning off of the source in the test. This is obviously nonsense; pain is not like that. It can be of different forms, spasm like for some, sharp and intense for others. Pain itself can often be an acute, sharp sense, or a slow, nagging sense of pain. It can depend on the information being sent by the nervous system, and on the type of damage being caused. For some it can be slow building and slow to dissipate, etc etc. I could go on. then of course there is the fact that for some sufferers, pain is not the main symptom; it can be fatigue/lethargy, or mental fuzziness, or something else. Until this gets through to these researchers, nothing will change, and flawed tests will continue to be carried out. We should bombard the likes of the World Health Organization, the European Commission, relevant U.S. departments, etc., with this message or else they will constantly put forward the likes of Rubin to negate any causal link between electrosensitive sufferers and Electromagetic fields. . > > all European Anti-Emf organizations > > Dear all, > > The 2011 International Scientific Conference on EMF and Health will take plake on the 16th and the 17th of November 2011 at the European Parliament in Brussels. > > This conference is organized under the auspices of the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR).
