Guest guest
Rodney: I'm quite surprised to see these items as part of your diet. Bagels are extremely high in calories (and unless whole wheat are devoid of much nutrition), and canned beef broth is swimming in salt!!!! These are hardly CRONIE foods. I would urge you to ditch these foods in favor of for example, oatmeal for breakfast and low salt V-8 in lieu of beef broth. Don't mean this as a lecture, just perhaps a wake up call. on 3/29/2004 8:49 PM, Rodney at perspect1111@... wrote: > It is interesting looking at the foods I eat with this in mind. Guest guest
Hi Francesca: Well I have posted before about the relative nutrient contents of white and whole grain breads. Which is best appears to depend on which nutrients you happen to be short of, because each has more of various nutrients than the other. Both have the high salt content. (I realize, of course, that that is not the conventional wisdom.) And, of course, whole grain breads are more than 80% white flour anyway. So if you don't approve of white flour, why eat so much of it in whole grain bread? What would be interesting to see is epidemiological evidence of the health of people who eat a lot of germ and bran and no white flour. If it showed they were demonstrably healthier it would be enough to change my behaviour. As for the beef broth, it is not a regular component of my diet, I bought it because of a recipe that requires it and seemed worthwhile trying. I had not anticipated the huge salt content. It would be better to buy some beef and make a salt-free stock from it. Rodney. > > > It is interesting looking at the foods I eat with this in mind.
