And Sherm is one of the "excess" CR guys. I think from what Rae,eg, says repeatedly that weight loss is not the key and I believe that, because those healthy looking older mice didn't look "gaunt". I also believe that "gauntness" is not a sign of good health, necessarily, and I don't believe I need to subject myself to those symptoms that the "excess" guys "endure". At last count I think I noted > 5. I do have a colder feeling, but I attribute that directly to a low fat diet. That is actually useful in Texas. That feeling I have overcome now using whey 22 gms bid. Seems to increase metabolism, maybe?

Libido was evaluated in CRed rats by the number of "mounts" as a criteria. I think the term libido may mean diff things to diff people. For example, not how many times per day, but other complications, like heart disease, prostate problems, changes in hormones, changes in the women's health, erectile dysfunction, hypertension medications, and for that matter - religion.

My observation is that about age 40, married 20 yrs, the man begins to lose penile sensitivity while the woman may be more receptive than when young. The psychological result is the man thinks it's something about the woman ( it couldn't be him - macho thing). The woman thinks he's met a younger woman, which often occurs. The younger woman has visions of grandeur with a successful older guy (whose hair will fall out after the marriage), and of course the man may feel something better than with the older woman. What that man does not realize is he is in vital need of that companion in another 20 yrs, who will likely keep him alive longer than average.

There are fixes - hormones, a vaginal tuck (like a tummy tuck) for mothers. Another good "fix" is seeing what bad decisions has done for your friends 5 years senior. Another fix is realizing what happens to the relationship with your children, daughter,eg.

Entirely too much weight is put on "sex" and the ability to have sex to the point of people killing each other over infidelity, eg. Mostly that is Hollywood, hearsay, biblical interpretation and actual life is a lot diff. A joke an old guy once told about two miners that go into Alaska and they gear up and are told to use the "boards" for female companionship. In spring only one returns and when asked about the second guy, he says, I killed him. I caught him in bed with my board.

I think CR has to come second to marriage vows. Of course, it helps if your wife was the prettiest girl in school, and has an IQ of 136.

Regards

Rodney: please understand that the story I related was one that was in turnrelated to the group by a male, Sherm. It could very well have seemed inhis eyes that his return to a normal libido signified all that was necessaryto win his wife back. We never heard directly from his wife, who could verywell have been dissatisfied with his obsessiveness of all things CRON, andnot just his lack of libido. That would have explained his very abruptdeparture from the CR Society List at that time (after explaining the reasonto everyone). Certainly leaving the group has nothing to do with libido, but everything to do with Sherm's over involvement in his life with CRONextremism.on 6/3/2004 8:20 AM, Rodney at perspect1111@... wrote:> Hi folks:> So the story related here by Francesca of Sherman's relationship with> his wife seems far from unusual.
