Guest guest
In 1996, I was tested for food allergies, and I'm wondering if food allergies can change over time thus requiring that I take a new test. Thanks!
Guest guest
Yes they can. If you're going to test yourself again, you should have your doctor utilize ImmunoCap which is the first FDA-approved allergy test based on blood. There's a lot of quack analysis in this field and the older procedures are not objectively reliable. We use Quest labs and I am unfamaliar with any allergy test being " FDA approved " . I checked their website and also saw nothing confirming this status. Where did you get this info Thanks Jeff
Guest guest
The ImmunoCap test appears to be IgE testing only. There are also blood tests for IgG, for example ELISA testing. IgG is a different immune reaction. I have had IgG testing and found it useful. Foods that I tested sensitive to do indeed give me a reaction - I get small hive-like spots on my face for many of them. Some bother my stomach. I have experienced this even when I was unaware that I was eating one of my reactive foods. When I get the spots unexpectedly, I can usually go back and read labels and find one of the bad foods. Unfortunately for me, sunflower oil is one of my most reactive - a widely used oil at this time. Keeps me away from processed and fast foods. > > In 1996, I was tested for food allergies, and I'm wondering if food > allergies > > can change over time thus requiring that I take a new test.
