Guest guest Posted May 27, 2004 Report Share Posted May 27, 2004 The links section of the lists only one source for guar gum: Beyond-a-century.com Guar Gum $6.00/lb plus shipping $5.00 min After visiting several local health food stores, nutrition shops, and pharmacies in the Washington DC area, I found out that Benefiber consists only of " partly hydrolyzed Guar Gum " with nothing else added. Although it is considerably more expensive than $6.00 per pound, it can be conveniently purchased at almost any drug store in the same section where they sell Metamucil. Some literature from 1992 reported that Guar Gum in tablet form (no longer sold in the US) caused obstructions.
