I disconnected those wires at the box. They are just dead outlets. It blocks infra-red and the stuff in our house definitely blocks microwaves too. Unfortunately our window frames are plastic so signals come through the frames (and to a lesser extent the stucco walls). I've read (in Ed Leeper's Silencing the Fields) that it's a reason to make the ground rods not work too well--you want to get an undervoltage that will be noticed if the common is broken.
