Guest guest
I have whatever you call those safety bathroom outlets in my home. They are over ten years old. One of them has a window a/c unit plugged into it. Nothing in the house has changed, but the window unit is shutting off and on too often, and sometimes the outlet shuts off. I have had to turn it off completely. I need the a/c unit to cool my home so I need to get the problem fixed. Somebody mentioned a specific brand of replacement that had tested best, but I cannot find the post. TIIA, Josie
Guest guest
Hi Josie, > I have whatever you call those safety bathroom outlets in my home. > Yes, required by safety code. Every home on the grid has one. > They are over ten years old. One of them has a window a/c unit plugged into it. Nothing in the house has changed, but the window unit is shutting off and on too often, and sometimes the outlet shuts off. > When the outlet gets old, it will do that. Also when in wet and dusty locations the circuitry will get corroded. Completely normal and annoying. Even worse in outdoor locations, than inside a bathroom of course. > I have had to turn it off completely. > The manufacturer would say it served it's purpose and is time to upgrade. > I need the a/c unit to cool my home so I need to get the problem fixed. If it is in a bathroom, it will have to be replaced with another GFCI > Somebody mentioned a specific brand of replacement that had tested best, but I cannot find the post. > That was me, I found success with or Eagle brand.
