8 might be tough but I'll try to make it. It seems that each time I want to

chat, something comes up or I forget. Since I haven't been part of a chat

yet, please educate me. Would this chat be via e-mail like this or would it

be in a chat room at egroups? Thanks.

, I'll be there at 5 pm pacific. It has been a busy week. I hope you

have been well during it. Mercury is in retrograde and that seems to do a

job on my vertigo and heart. Weird, I know. Love, Jeannie

I tried again tonight (a little late--8:15) and nobody was there. Is this

common or did nobody respond? It's seems to be common from other notes I've

gotten. Are the regularly scheduled chats the only option?

Chat room at egroups for Zaplist. Last week we were all over the place

trying to find each other. We did. Love, Jeannie

I went to but no one was there. Finally clicked on the other, " old "

site and have been chatting with three others until just now--about 9:30.

Think we need to get coordinated about WHERE the chat is to be held as well

as the time, so we can all be in the same place at the same time. Hope

Dear ,

The CHAT questionnaire is for use by health visitors at the 18 month check

in order to detect the autistic spectrum disorders. However, since the last

Hall report most Trusts have changed to a two year developmental assessment

so I'm not sure how much help this will be.

neighbours in Suffolk (now known as Local Health Partnerships, then three

small community trusts) tried to introduce just such a questionnaire system.

So far as I know, it was never widely implemented, but it might be worth

contacting their new Director of nursing to see if any information is

available on development/piloting of this tool.

health visitor basically to reassure them about minor illnesses in their

infants. Quite a lot of literature has been written about this commercial

product Babycheck, mainly involving a Professor Colin Morley. In our hands

the utility was, to put it very mildly, limited and the additional workload

substantial.

picking up mild autistic spectrum disorders in pre-school children. This

work involved Dr. Simon Baron-Cohen in House, 18b Trumpington Road,

Cambridge CB2 2AH - I think the current version is called CHAT but I'm not

sure. This sort of work looking at 'mindblindness' and communication

problems was building up in interesting directions when I left House

in 1998, and has probably reached the stage now of practical use in the

community. A speech and language therapist with a related interest in

developmental checklists was Mrs. Jane Speake at Chesterton Hospital, Union

Lane, Cambridge CB4 - it is possible her work during 1998-9 has born fruit

by now, driven by the lack of HVs in Cambs. Both Simon and Jane are quite

outstanding in their respective fields (Psychology and SaLT) and might make

good speakers at a future Senate meeting....

and

Thank you for all your help.Especially for the paper about corporate working

whichis roosting happily in my bag to be read this evening and for the

recommendation to seek out the CHAT paper which I have done. The proposal

is coming along and it is gradually developing an HV-friendly focus (I

think), however the likelihood of success is probably smaller than

infinitessimal! Still it's all good fun..

You're wondering if being able to get into a web page using IE rather then

aol's built in browser is a fluke? No, I end up doing it alot that way when

AOL's browser isn't working. It's very rare that I can't get wherever I

want to go using IE when Aol's browser doesn't work. It does happen but not

much.
