Guest guest
Hi All I have travelled *lots* between across the Atlantic and within Europe. They don't normally allow wet batteries on airplanes, only dry cell batteries. I have had some damage done to my chair but not often. These days I travel with a manual wheelchair and an E-Fix system Power add on system for manual wheelchairs. .. Replaces existing rear wheels, adds power unit and controller to power an existing manual wheelchair. .. Disassembles for transport. Obviously it is much heavier than a normal manual chair, but it is lighter than most electric chairs. I put the E-fix wheels, engines, joystick and battery in a big box that goes in the cargo hold. In the airport, I sit in my manual wheelchair up until the door of the airplane. Then, my husband or the airport staff help me to the regular airplane seat and the chair goes in the cargo hold. Normally, my manual wheelchair is waiting for me at the airplane door when we arrive. Then I go and retrieve the engine box together with other luggage. When I get to the hotel, I leave the box there and put the engine back on. This way, the engine is preserved intact and is not broken during the flight. My manual wheelchair has (so far) travelled without damage. I am happy to answer any questions smiles Taya Re: Traveling > Mine were always damaged too. Well, since I don't believe that vaccines give you immunity to the diseases I might encounter either here or abroad, It would not matter whether I was vaccinated or not. What would matter is my overall health and ability to overcome whatever I might encounter. I would carry with me, a small pharmacy of homeopathic medicine and a good homeopathic book to go with it and would enjoy my travel and not fear the diseases as this alone would weaken me and make me more sucseptible. sincerely, Mavis Finish each day and be done with it. Guest guest
Hi When traveling, does anyone know some convenient way to find places to stay that don't have WiFi? Even motels that have WiFi in the lobby but not in the rooms would be great. I live in California, am real sensitive to Wifi and find I can't stay at the camp grounds or motels I used to stay at because WiFi seems to be everywhere. WiFi *is* everywhere -- I've stayed in cabins in the forest that didn't have a phone or TV, but there was still WiFi... Marc
