People used to sprout in jars before all the fancy sprouters came out. As to the flax seeds, well they contain a lot of mucilage (like okra) and I really have never tried sprouting them so I can't answer that one but they sure are good even when soaked. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Guest guest
I have tried on three dif ocassions to sprout them and the result is the same each time! SLIME!!!!!!!!!! I have tried rinsing more than other stuff, and then reinsing less, the truth is, as soon as you saok them they emit to slime. i tried going 4 days to see if there would be an eventual end to the slime...but NO!...so I would just soak and " sprout " for a day after then use. If they are too slimy, lay them out on something to dry for a day or two then use. Also for a first time sprouter, i like Garbanzo or chick peas they spout in like 2 days, sunflower seeds too. Then you can make humus and then make a sunflower and hummus sandwich! Clover and Alfafa seeds are easy, just kind of tricky due to the near microscopic seeds, but then end result is way cool and yummy. Sylvia for a > > >All this sprout stuff interests me.
