Hi Pam,

Yes they are. People used to sprout in jars before all the fancy

sprouters came out. As to the flax seeds, well they contain a lot of

mucilage (like okra) and I really have never tried sprouting them so I

can't answer that one but they sure are good even when soaked.

I have tried on three dif ocassions to sprout them and the result is

the same each time! SLIME!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried rinsing more than other stuff, and then reinsing less,

the truth is, as soon as you saok them they emit to slime. i tried

going 4 days to see if there would be an eventual end to the

slime...but NO!...so

I would just soak and " sprout " for a day after then use. If they are

too slimy, lay them out on something to dry for a day or two then use.

Also for a first time sprouter, i like Garbanzo or chick peas they

spout in like 2 days, sunflower seeds too. Then you can make humus

and then make a sunflower and hummus sandwich!

Clover and Alfafa seeds are easy, just kind of tricky due to the near

microscopic seeds, but then end result is way cool and yummy.
