Guest guest
Hi Peg: There are a number of problems I am aware of. One is that the USDA database everyone uses does not have values for every nutrient for every food. If there is no number in the database the software assumes there is none of that nutrient in that food. Another problem is that the USDA data may be specified for two units (cups and grams, say). But the conversion factor from cups to grams makes no sense. So which unit is the data correct for - IF EITHER? In the case of Fitday, the data it gives you for nutrient content is very different in the 'analysis of nutrients' table, than it shows for the same identical amount of the same identical food in your 'foods eaten' table. No doubt there are other problems I don't happen to have tripped over. Better than nothing. But not a lot better, it seems. Broccoli has large quantities of vitamin K. Kale HUGE quantities of it. But last time I checked the USDA database did not have an entry for vitamin K for kale. So diet analysis software, in the absence of any information, assumes it is zero. Guest guest
Hi All, A hint: No bones about fresh salmon. For canned salmon, the vitamin D-rich bones should be included, no? Cheers, Al Pater. --- In , " Peg Diamond " <enmuffins@y...> wrote: > Has anyone else had problems with FitDay statistics. Guest guest
I checked out a few reports going back a couple of months ago and all of them show zero in the Vitamin K column. I guess their database doesn't contain Vitamin K content of food. I eat lots of greens, so it should be listed.
