Guest guest
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/487400 (Associated Professional Sleep Societies 18th Annual Meeting) "Sleep/wake times also appear to progressively advance with aging, related to a gradual phase advance in the biological clock. Kawinska and colleagues[5] recently conducted a chronobiological study with 31 healthy subjects between the ages of 20 and 60 and examined the timing of melatonin secretion, considered to be a measure of the endogenous biological rhythms or biological clock. They noted that, on average, melatonin onset occurred 1.3 hours earlier in middle-aged as compared with young subjects, which is equivalent to the change in timing reported in elderly subjects. This change was independent of the timing of habitual light exposure, suggesting that the change is internal and not induced by external, habit-related, factors."
