He continues to claim that if he could just get more exercise he can push it back down from 204 to 180, where it used to be in his early 40s. He's 48 now. HDL is 66 and LDL is 129. [snip] >>>> , in 1988 at age 46 my cholesterol was 223. Today, at age 61 it is 182. Exercise basically did nothing to reduce my cholesterol. What really helped was diet. Most important: Eliminate hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated fats. No commercial puff pastry, no fried foods like french fries, chicken filets, doughnuts, nothing with Crisco, beware of margarines, etc. Read food labels carefully. (see my web page on labels for tricks that manufacturers use: http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/labels.html ) By eliminating hydrogenated fats my cholesterol went from 223 to 209. By dieting to get my Body Mass index into the normal range (BMI below 25) my cholesterol dropped to 182. I have lost weight basically by eliminating pastries and increasing my intake of protein and colorful vegetables. Currently, my BMI is 23.0 and I am looking forward to my next blood test in September. Tony
