What I did do, which was another mistake, was stay on the induction level. > > I'm wondering if you were really in need of some missing nutrient and that gave you the cravings? How about a lot of chromium---especially the form with the glucose tolerance factor, rather than the picolinate? > Hmm. My 8 weeks on Induction was around 2000-2001 I think. Actually except for the cravings the last few weeks (3?) on it I felt better than I ever have since. Brain fog cleared, tremendous energy, great mood, woke each day actually eager to get to my daily tasks, and able to get things done all day without fatigue and without joint pain. I don't remember sleeping much better than usual though. Even feeling so great was not enough to keep me from going back to carbs because of the relentless cravings. I have no idea what I was taking in the way of supplements back then. I doubt I had any lack of potassium because I never do. I was probably low sodium then though, as I may have been restricting salt. I have high RDW, jsut got around to researching that yesterday, which indicates pernicious anemia (lack of B12). This can result in lack of oxygen due to malformed, overlarge red blood cells. I also have iron overload. Do you know if lack of (or oversupply of) progesterone, estrogen, or testosterone or DHEA can cause cravings? My doctor refuses to test my sex hormone levels so I am floundering. 18 years post surgical meno, no hormone replacement for 12-15 years except for short trials of prog, and estrogen, in the past year, both of which made me feel worse, but I never took them together. sol > That 9 weeks was the longest period of my life of avoiding sugar and I wasn't *craving* it at all.
