Guest guest
Get the full text for "Fatty acids and lymphocyte functions". Calder, PC, Br Journal of Nutr, 2002, 87, supp1, s31-s48. Too much in that article to explain online. EPA competes with ARA (arachidonic acid) in tissues. This issue is not nearly as simple as using flax oil. Look at page s40: "Many studies, especially those in laboratory animals, have demonstrated that, while in some situations fish oil does act as a 'PGE2 antagonist', it often induces effects which are opposite to those predicted on this basis." I'm trying EPA in 4 grams FO (4 times 180 mg EPA), per day. One article claims 4 grams of EPA to effect BP. I'm avoiding ALA. Looks like it would take 15 grams of ALA to approach the effect of EPA, if the conversion works ok. Self-described experts can't be trusted, may haveother agendas besides giving out the best information available, and areubiquitous on the web. So please read carefully to screen out the "noise" -that's not the kind of evidence we should be "listening to". Guest guest
Thanks, , I guess it's not reasonable to look for EPA without the DHA? {in light of MR's concern over DHA accelerated aging hypothesis}. Guest guest
Dunno if it's cost effective to get pure EPA. I'm also not entirely sold on going without DHA, at this point, anyway..... >From: " jwwright " <jwwright@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Fat Guru Udo Erasmus' take on ALA, >etc.and Prostate CA >Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2004 11:57:53 -0500 > >Thanks, , >I guess it's not reasonable to look for EPA without the DHA? {in light of >MR's concern over DHA accelerated aging hypothesis}. > >Regards. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Dowling > > Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 10:46 AM > Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Fat Guru Udo Erasmus' take on ALA, >etc.and Prostate CA > > > Relatively inexpensive, pharmceutical grade, EPA source: > > http://shop.store./iherb/rxomega31.html > > > >From: " jwwright " <jwwright@...> > >Reply- > >< > > >Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Fat Guru Udo Erasmus' take on ALA, > >etc.and Prostate CA > >Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2004 10:27:10 -0500 > > > >Get the full text for " Fatty acids and lymphocyte functions " .
