[snip] >>>> I have been considering an IF schedule that would work for me. I liked Mattson's idea of having a morning cuttoff hour (say 9:00 AM) to delimit fasting 24 hour periods. The problem for IF schedules is that because a week has an odd number of days, you would fast on a Monday and the next week you would eat on a Monday, effectively having a 2-week cycle. Similarly, fasting on odd numbered days gets screwed up at the end of months that have 31 days. I decided that the best schedule would be to fast on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with Sunday being a 2000-calorie day, and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday being " gorging " , 4000-calorie days. Since the cutoff hour is 9:00 AM, I can have breakfast at 8:00 AM on a fasting day and that should tide me over until 9:00 AM for the non-fasting day. The schedule is basically: Sunday: 3 meals after 9:00, 2000 calories Monday: 4 meals at any time, 3250 (4000-750) calories Tuesday: Only breakfast before 9:00, 750 calories Wednesday: 4 meals after 9:00, 3250 calories Thursday: Only breakfast before 9:00, 750 calories Friday: 4 meals after 9:00, 3250 calories Saturday: Only breakfast before 9:00, 750 calories People who prefer to fast on MWF can use the above schedule, but change the days of the week to start from Saturday instead of Sunday. This has the advantage that there is no fasting on Saturday and Sunday when there are many social activities. This IF schedule averages 2000 calories per day, but should be adjusted to your individual requirements. Tony
Guest guest
Ice cream has a relatively low glycemic index, especially the high fat versions. >From: "aequalsz" <aequalsz@...> >Reply- > >Subject: [ ] Intermittent fasting training >Date: Sat, 24 Jul 2004 01:35:33 -0000 > >Well tonight I stated training for my upcoming intermittent fasting >diet. Believe me CRONers (ies) IF > is the way to go. :_) > > My factitious, self > Aequalsz Well I usually don't talk to myself but had a few thoughts for some of you health experts. Still curious about getting a blood glucose reading of 85 mg/dL after eating Mexican food, drinking beer, and consuming about 1800 calories of Rocky Road ice cream. Took the reading less than one hour after finishing the ice cream so it seems that the level should have still been elevated. Possible explanations are: (1) Bought the glucose meter and strips on Ebay - checked the calibration and it showed O.K. but maybe the second batch of test strips (although they showed an expiration date of 4/2006) were actually quite older than that and are no longer accurate. The vials containing the strips were not sealed and older test strips could have been substituted. (2) The blood sample from my finger tip may not have contained well " glucosed " blood, maybe due to poor circulation. (3) I'm just one ole healthy guy after following the CRON diet for about three or four months. (4) I had a post-gorging relative hypoglycemia condition. (5) All of the above (6) None of the above Can hardly wait to have another glutenous, gorge episode to get further scientific data on this important issue. Aequalsz PS Realize these home administered tests are not a substitute for a professional doctor's exam and plan to get a fully comprehensive exam after I, (a) Bring my weight down another 10 lbs and again verify that my cholesterol level is well below 200 mg/dL. ( Recover from my weight lifting induced shoulder injury. (Actually may need shoulder surgery - so much for " stressing the system " .) © Get back from a trip to Europe. (d) All of the above (e) None of the above PPS Will try to be more serious in the future as befits this group of earnest, scientific, and dedicated CRONers.
