the statins seem to have taken on a miracle drug status. Maybe it's because lack of lipid control causes or aids a lot of bad things? Maybe that's why CR works?

some stats:

http://www.prostate-help.org/castats.htm

http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/prostate.htm

http://www.cancer.org/downloads/MED/Page4.pdf

http://www.cdc.gov/od/oc/media/pressrel/r040603b.htm

Among men, cancer incidence rates have recently declined for seven of the top 15 cancer sites: lung, colon, oral cavity, leukemia, stomach, pancreas, and larynx. Incidence rates increased only for melanoma and cancers of the prostate, kidney, and esophagus.

a nice map:

My area is that dark area above Houston. A tiny bit of comfort here and there.

www.cancer.org/downloads/PRO/Cancer%20Statistics%202004.ppt - 2004-01-08

Notice how cancer has not come down from 1950 to 2004

Click down to pg 5. PCa is higher than 1950. Recent numbers are trending downward.

"In summary, there are two camps in the debate. On the one hand are the public health specialists who argue from epidemiological principles that there is severe doubt about whether a mass screening program would be effective in the population. They suggest that it may possibly do more harm than good. On the other hand are individuals and professional organizations who argue that men have the right to know vital information that could save their lives. This is a question of population benefits or harms versus individuals' right to choose. "

life expectancy at birth, Italy looks like79.7, US 77.3

http://www.pcacoalition.org/pressroom/pcinthenews.php

and finally, Fran Italy but old data:

http://seer.cancer.gov/publications/raterisk/rates45.html

about the same as the area I live in(ha).

Thoughts

1 We have no concensus on a treatment for PCa.

2 We have no drug treatment for BPH, as in kill what causes the inflammation.

3 WE have no pill to kill the inflammation which leads to PCa.

4 We have no good blood test for PCa, yet. - in the works.

5 There are docs rec'g no PSA tests, and fewer biopsies (because of cost).

Regards.

I believe statins and CR are both anti-inflammatory. IMO that is the more likely parallel.

Of course just like everything else there is such a thing as too little inflammation so IMO there is probably no reason to stack statins on top of CR, despite what the drug companies (pushers?) would have us all believe. I think they're pushing for over the counter registration...
