When good cholesterol goes bad

High density lipoprotein (HDL) is often called

the 'good cholesterol.' Products of an inflammatory

enzyme, myeloperoxidase, are now shown to

selectively target the main protein in HDL,

apolipoprotein A-I. This turns the 'good cholesterol' bad.
