Guest guest
A "normal" person's INR is typically right around 1.5 -- this is NOT dependent on cholesterol levels. My understanding of a blood clot is that it is Not the same thing as plaque buildup in the arteries due to high cholesterol. I'm not saying it's not possible the two things interact, but cholesterol levels do NOT reflect in the blood clotting time. My INR today was 1.5, after eating a very low fat diet high in garlic and cabbage for several weeks, and includes mehaving been at the same time on the same high dose of coumadin, namely: 12 mg 4 days a week 8 mg 3 days a week which now has been upped to 12 mg 6 days a wk and 8 mg one day a week after taking 16 mg today to "boost" my INR up from 1.5 The INR is NOT impacted by cholesterol in the blood -- it IS impacted by certain things such as coumarins in the blood ( curry spices, garlic thin the blood or slow the clotting time ) and vitamin K in the blood ( cabbage, spinach are high in vitamin K which speeds the clotting process )
