Guest guest
Hi folks: Just got back from guest lecturing to my husband's class. It seemed to go pretty well. I stressed that I still can remember what was on my mind at their age: boys, grades, clothes etc. But if I had it to do over again one of several things I'd change is: I'd eat better. Showed them a recent article that heart disease begins in the teens. And told them that if nothing else, the diet will help them look " better, slimmer and more attractive to the opposite sex. Told them I never get sick anymore (and who isn't interested in that). Read the first couple of pages from Walford's first chapter including: ........ " eventually your breasts will sag, your erections flag..... " and of course that usually gets some attention. And asked them (if they felt they'd never get sick or old) to pass it on to parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles who could perhaps be more responsive to the information. I actually got applause when done (which is better than what my husband gets - in fact he's lucky if he doesn't get a few snorers) so that was encouraging. At least they were awake: a few asked questions such as : How many calories did I eat a day...and to describe a day's eating. So I hope I reached at least a few young souls.
