Guest guest
I recently had a tooth pulled, tried to save it, but had to have it pulled two weeks ago. It did not form a blood clot over the bone, and got a dry socket. I have used many frequencies and programs to help this. Extreme pain. It had a low grade infection and inflammation for a long time the dentist feels. Nerve issues. Been a challenge to get on top of this. Would anyone have any suggestions, knowledge, websites etc, about dry sockets and healing. Also prevention of. I have another one that will have to come out also. I won't do the root canals. Thanks Sharon s.s.t@...
Guest guest
Hi Sharon, In my experience (I'm a Pharmacist), dry sockets are created when the patient replaces a blood-soaked gauze pad too frequently. Unfortunately, most dental offices don't seem to warn against this. The problem is that frequent replacing of a gauze pad continuously wicks away the blood that is necessary for proper clot formation. Hence a clot never forms, and a dry socket occurs. The accepted way to treat a dry socket is to have the dental office " ream out " the socket so that it bleeds again, and forms a normal clot. I know that sounds terrible, but somehow a proper clot must be formed or the dry (and painful) socket will remain. If you have another tooth pulled, here are a few recommendations. First of all, Arnica (homeopathic, sublingual tablets) is excellent for minimizing bruising, swelling and bleeding. Start about 24 hours before the appointment, and take it 3 times daily until a few days after the extraction. You'll be amazed at how well Arnica works. So will your dentist (they haven't quite got on board with homeopathy, yet, but often shake their heads in amazement at the results). The dentist may also prescribe things like Ibuprofen and/or narcotic pain pills (Vicodin, Codeine). Those are fine along with the Arnica, just make sure the Ibuprofen and/or narcotic meds are taken WITH FOOD to prevent stomach upset. With the Arnica on board, you will likely have minimal bleeding. Remember, don't change the gauze pad too often -- once or twice a day should be plenty. If the taste of blood in your mouth bothers you, a great way to quickly shut down the bleeding is to gently bite down on a wet tea bag (ordinary Tea like Lipton). You'll taste mainly the tea, and the tannic acid in the tea quickly and safely shuts down excess bleeding. Again, I doubt you'll need the tea if you're using Arnica. If you do use the wet tea bag, best to have a sterile gauze pad between the tea bag and the wound. Let the wound ooze and form a clot naturally. Over-zealous swapping of wet gauze pads is what seems to create these dry sockets. So tell your dentist you have a dry socket. He'll know what to do. Hope this helps. -Doug > > I recently had a tooth pulled, tried to save it, but had to have it pulled two weeks ago. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Aside from using our systems for stress reduction, I would strongly suggest oil pulling with coconut oil. It is oral healing on so many levels. Google 'Dr. Fife' and/or 'oil pulling with coconut oil.' You'll learn lots. Within days of beginning this (very easy, simple, inexpensive) process, you will experience healing results.
