Guest guest
When I was a child and the coconut trees around our house were not that tall, I used to climb some of the trees to get young coconuts to treat classmate guests and friends (at that time and place, a kid who could not climb a coconut tree is a lesser kid, whatever is the economic status :-)). I liked so much the young coconut water because it is sweet (now I know it has 5 to 5.5% sugar content). Now, I am in my late forties, I prefer the mature coconut water because it has much lesser sugar (about 2.5% only), it is less acidic with pH of about 5.5 to 6.5 (young coconut water is more acidic at pH of about 5), and the minerals and vitamins are more or less similar in totality (the young one have more of some but less of the others and vice versa). Some analysis of coconut water is also available in this link www.coconutboard.nic.in/tendnutr.htm. The coconut milk where the oil is also derived from comes from VERY MATURE coconuts. What i am trying to say, is that the lauric acid comes around as the nut matures. --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage.
