Guest guest
I put this message on the web and I do not think I made my question clear. I AM NOT IN ANY WAY SUGGESTING LDN IS A PLACEBO. I WATCHED MY WIFE IMPROVE ON LDN. Look at it another way - before starting LDN my wife was going down hill fast. I think that creates fear and many negative feelings ( we also are not in that rare breed that the Mayo institute found, content with life) Surely those feelings must also be bad for health. Are they part of the reason why people with MS have a lower endorphin level? My wife has started LDN. SHE KNOWS ABSOLUTELY THAT SHE IS BETTER AND IN ALL PROBABILITY WILL NOT GET WORSE. This will then lower fear and negative feelings, which will itself improve her health and I feel better just watching it so will also have a beneficial effect on MY health.. The question I am asking is does anyone know if the better feelings mean more endorphins and therefore add to the LDN effect? Is there, therefore, a chance that reducing the dose to a maintaining level is the best way to go? My wife was diagnosed in 1986 and is now diagnosed as having secondary progressive MS. ----- Original Message ----- From: low dose naltrexone Sent: Thursday, May 20, 2004 6:11 PM Subject: Correct dose for LDN? My wife has just started taking LDN (3mg). She was getting sicker by the day, that stopped on the third day on LDN, she has then had minor improvements. Whilst the general result on LDN would seem to be that the disease stops and minor improvements occur, there are cleanly a few that receive major improvements. The big question is what is the common factor for those few i.e. is it just chance or could we all do something to make us get into that group. If you are one of the few I would like to know your story i.e. what dose are you on, how long have you been on it? Do you have a view of why it worked so well for you? I think I am asking a question which everyone would like an answer to but if you are not prepared to answer on a public web page, please send me an email to my personal address davidtaylor@... Also I am sure most people reading this will be convinced that LDN is more than a placebo effect, but does anyone know if the placebo effect works the same way, i.e. does placebo effect work the same way by boosting endorphins. My wife was basically getting sicker by the day with no hope of any improvement before she died. She is now on something that has stopped that, she also has some hope now of getting materially better. This must all have changed the chemicals in her brain i.e. she will now also be benefiting from some placebo effect. Does this also boost endorphins? The common medical view for this drug is that you take the maximum dose that works for you up to 4.5Mg, but is this correct? We know that if you stop taking LDN you get worse, but how about taking the minimum dose that works for you, would that give you a better chance of being in the few that get a lot better? Any views most welcome, as I say if you do not wish to answer on a public web page please feel free to use my personal email address.
