Guest guest
Welcome to the CI World!. Change your batteries when the Ci tells you - you'll hear four beeps. Some time after that (with me its about an hour) the CI will stop. Change the batteries and you're away again. I get a little over three days out of a set of batteries but this depends on the programming of your CI. Music, like everything else, sounds pretty bad to start with but it does get better, just hang in there. I've had mine for just on one week and even in that short time the differences (between last monday and today) are staggering. Bear in mind, though, that what you are wearing is a SPEECH processor, not a music processor. 16/11/04 - OK 13/12/04 - Amazing! > Hi > > > > Hi! > > I am going to be 16 tomorrow, and I recently got a N24 > cochlear implant in November. Guest guest
You can carry a package of #675 batteries with you everywhere you go and then change the batteries when they die. Why waste good batteries? Believe me, you'll know when it time to change them!! Guest guest
Hi, Have a wonderful time on your trip. When you come back on the 2nd and 3rd, it sounds to me as if you are going to have your implant activated. You have a lot to look forward to in a very few days. I'll be waiting to hear all about each adventure. Alice
Guest guest
Hi Deb, It does sound as if your brain is adapting to the new sound and this is good. From what you have shared, I'm sure you will soon hear your own voice and the voices of others. Sometimes, the audiologists like to be conservative for a newly activated individual and let them gradually adjust to what they hear. Your audiologist is your team leader right now. Be sure to write down what you hear when you hear it so that the audiologist can adjust your mapping to meet your needs. There are so many ways to map an implant. You are picking up the sounds of the environment now and this is a good beginning. When is your next mapping session? Alice -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Guest guest
I initially tried mine in the morning and found myself groggy during the day and wide awake at 2:30AM. I now try to take it at 9:00PM and am usually asleep by 10PM. Guest guest
So instead of feeling groggy on 10mg, you feel more alert at 20mg? I currently take 10mg myself (before bed). Guest guest
I did it all at once. When I decided to change, I didn't take the dose in the morning and took it at 9PM instead. Guest guest
Hey Regina, I am in Lake s. It would be great if we could do this at the same time. I am working on the financing as we speak. I too can't think of anything else. This morning I had to give a massage and found my mind wandering the whole time. That is bad!! It is so exciting I just want to get it done :0). I have at least 6+ clients that want me to go 1st and be the guinea pig. I know they are hoping I hurry up as well. I would love to get together sometime and go out to lunch. My cell # is 425-346-0713. Have a great day! hi I'm scheduled to arrive in San Diego/Mexicali on the 21st of July with surgery on the 22nd. I live outside of Seattle in a little town called Duvall. My husband actully works in West Seattle though. Where are you at? I am pretty excited about surgery. It seems to be all I think about these days (almost). i love reading all the messages though. I'm still pretty worried about a few things; travel, mood swings afterwards, pain...It would be fun to meet for a smoothy or something sometime. My friends, family and husband are all very supportive but of course they are all very skinny. It would be nice to now someone locally going through the same thing. Let me know when you schedule. Guest guest
Regina, it is not painful at all, feels like someone kinda punched you in the stomach for about four days, just a little sore that is all, so don't worry about the pain, I had liposuction years ago, now that was painful. This is a breeze. Tracie B.
Guest guest
Regina, did your boss have it done with Dr. A or someone else, I guess everyone is different, it was not to painfull for me, thansk for the headsup on isopure at GNC, I might look there for it, as far as the balding, I am two weeks out and still have a full head of hair, however, I heard that the loosing the hair thing happens more with people who get the RNY. Talk to ya soon, Tracie B. Hi Tracie, thanks for the heads up on the pain. My boss actually had it done and she thought it hurt more than she thought it was going to. She's three weeks ahead of me. I went to GNC and the isopure stuff is about $45 for a great big container of it. They alsso sell a multi- pack of different flavors in individual servings. 40 servings in the box. The kid at the mall said it wasn't the greatest tasting thing he's ever had and better mixed with fruit which I guess would work once you get to that part of the post-op diet. I hear you risk loosing your hair without the right amount of protein? Anyone else heard that? Just what I don't need is to be fat and bald. ope everyone is doing well. 11 days and couonting till I head down. Regina

I also decided to start taking it to deal with the PTSD following an auto accident. After a few days of mild symptoms (dry mouth, light headedness), the only ones that are left are sweating more than usual outside (in air conditioning it seems to be fine) and feeling sleepy sometimes, which considering I wanted it to help deal with insomnia is just fine. Since I started taking it I've been MUCH better about driving and have even gotten back on the expressway again without the literal cold sweats I was experiencing before. Before I just came unglued if anything unusual happened on the road, particularly any accident so I was startling at everything, and again I'm getting more to where I used to be. As I've only been on it about 10 days, I can't speak to the weight gain. That would bother me as well (as I have quite enough as it is.) However I'm thinking even if that starts happening, I might be able to balance it off by being more active, which is easier when one is feeling less depressed and anxious (or in my case, less exhausted from having spent another sleepless night.) Guest guest
Lee, it's good to hear from you! I think of you often. I think most of us understand the memory issue. I was " only " profoundly deaf for ten years but I still found remembering what I heard very difficult after getting the CI. I can only imagine what it must be like for you. Take care!
