Guest guest
Early this year, our city council approved construction of a third cell tower in the same church (which is next to a school by the way). Many people protested the proposed tower at the city council meeting, but the council members approved it because they said can't deny a cell tower application on the basis of potential health dangers. This is because of the 1996 Federal Communications Act which makes it virtually impossible to stop construction of cell towers, even if they pose threats to public health and the environment. By the way, none of the protesters who lived in the neighborhood even knew that two cell towers were already in the church and had been since 2006! The law requires the City to notify residents who live within 300 feet of a tower, but people who lived on the same block said they'd never been notified. It's absolutely horrifying what these cell tower companies are getting away with (apparently legally), and the health risk they are creating for the general population. gomma
