Guest guest
Although I certainly agree that a LDN trial is our top priority, I think that the public awareness is the first step to concentrate on to achieve the trial interest. Remember, so far out individual efforts haven't yielded much trial interest ...JMHOP At 10:39 AM 5/23/2004, you wrote: O.K. since this is a LDN board, I will focus my efforts on LDN. So as a first step we should agree on priorities, then select a max. of two priorities (rememeber FOCUS is crucial). Once the priorities are agreed upon, we should go on to the next step, how to achieve them. So here are two which look important to me. 1. Trial for LDN 2. Public awareness of LDN in the media (print, TV, radio). Are there other less obvious priorities ?. This is the time to decide the chime in. Remember, we can harness the power of the internet to move mountains. aegis > > > I read all the posts here daily and am always impressed with the > >number and > > > quality of the ideas so many have had regarding getting the LDN > >message > > > out. Guest guest
You are right, public awareness of LDN should be the top priority, as it would pave the way for a trial. So the next question: TV, radio or print. While we can target all three, we should start by focussing our efforts on hitting the major tv stations. TV reaches millions of homes. The international LDN petition has 4000 signatures. Lets assume that 25 % of them have access to the internet and can be convinced to write one short letter a month. That means we can hit any TV station with upto a 1000 e-mails. That should make anyone sit up and take action. I would suggest that we consider a method to channel the energy of the EWC (e-mail writing corps). The idea would be that once we decide the public entity to be targetted, all the EWC will send a mail. This would make sure that atleast our e-mails are not screened out. I suspect this is what happens presently, when we write to Bill OReilly etc. Typically, anyone famous has his/her secretary screening e-mails. The interesting ones make it to the boss. One inexpensive way is to form a EWC list/group, the sole function of which would be to inform members when to send in their e-mails. The EWC would not be used as a discussion forum. I believe the formation of the MS EWC will be crucial in our ability to sway public opinion. Without this, we will always be a lone voice crying out alone. This should be the next step, just IMHO. aegis > > > > > I read all the posts here daily and am always impressed with > >the > > > >number and > > > > > quality of the ideas so many have had regarding getting the LDN > > > >message > > > > > out. Guest guest
I agree .. public awareness must come first. I have written to Oprah .. a cross section of her staff .. with a view as to how LDN could help AIDS in Africa and also mentioned my own personal story. I called them last week and they said that it is a very interesting story .. they are still reviewing it. Here are the names of the people .. Senior Executive producer .. Geiger Executive producer ..... Diane Atkinson Senior producers ... Caty , Ellen Rakieten, Dana Newton Utigard Producer ... Terry Goulder Associate Producers .. Ray Dotch, Kelley, Jill , Berenstein They all received a personal letter. The lady dealing with the story is Layla Denley. The address is Harpo Inc 110 N Street Chicago IL 60607 The phone number is 312 633 1000 The email is oprah.com@... It is very hard for one voice to be heard. Maybe if any of you have the time or energy you could help me put pressure on Layla to do something about this by sending her your LDN testimony. I have also contacted the South African Government and they have responded that they have received the information. All the Best Bradley > > > *
Guest guest
: Its good you are trying. The likely result is however a polite reply that thank you, but no thank you. The ONLY way to be heard, is by forming a e-mail lobby as has been suggested on the board. Just as you want to reach out to everyone, Oprah selects programs that will reach out to a wide audience. A single e-mail letter is not likely to sway her. Yes, if we send her a hundred e-mails,that will get results. Yash > I agree .. public awareness must come first. Guest guest
Correction .. The Oprah contact is Layla Danley and the email is oprah.comAToprah.com .. if that makes sense .. when I put in the @ symbol the address doesn't appear ... > I agree .. public awareness must come first.
