Guest guest
Dear Members, I have a nine year old achon daughter who is going to be having spinal surgery soon. She had one decompression already two years ago. We found out Wednesday that she has developed severe kyphosis in her lower back. They are going to be doing alittle more decompressing to alievate the new pain but they also got to correct the kyphosis. This is going to require the rods to straighten the spine and also some fusing. My husband and I also have achon so are aware that this can sometimes happen. We just want to talk to some other peopleand families that have gone through this. My husband and daughter have both already had their spines decompressed but it didn't require rods or fusion. We are in such shock and disbelief. Brittney is only nine and this will be her 15th surgery for various things. She's gone through so much already. Your advice and support will be greatly appreciated. We are blessed in the fact that she will have two great surgeons working on her and that we will be at Vanderbilt Hospital. Sincerely, & Sharon Bowen
